The entire purpose of this site to begin with was to promote the local internet in Hattiesburg, so I intend to help out all those who have internet sites by promoting them here, no matter who they are. It’s been on the news monday night, didn’t anyone else see her stuttering like crazy when they asked why her campaign consultant was paying for the ads? nice try betsy fans, but when you wake up on may 4th and betsy lost, now you’ll at least know why. she is a liar!

“forwhatitsworth” thanks for striking a nerve with ask betsy. now we know who it is. its stone barefields son. do you reckon he has a vested interest in this campaign. wow so its not about safety for the people of hattiesurg,its not about the potholes that ruin our cars, not about the demise of the police department, not about hattiesburg at all, not about integrity but the monetary gain of one family. how greedy and self serving can you be. and mike you dont even live in hattiesburg or forrest county do you. its just about the money. thanks for forcing him out from under his rock into the light. its such a shame that a good family who got there start in hattiesburg would turn on it in its darkest hour, just for the cash.

You’re just now figuring out who I am? I’ve never made it a secret, unlike your unknown identity. It is very much about integrity, or rather, the lack thereof on Betsy’s part. I understand people who support a candidate blindly, regardless of the cold hard facts. If you have proof that she has not committed crimes and political corruption in office, let’s see it, or at least tell us about it.

Nathan Jordan is Bobby Chain’s errand boy. When Jordan got arrested for assualting his wife, Chain postede 10,000 bail to get him out of prison. Chain also paid the 15,000 bucks to finance the Hattiesburg First ads, that is a fact. Steve Dickson is a political consultant from Jackson that has been delivering Betsy’s TV ads to WDAM. He is also the guy who arranged the radio buys for Hattiesburg First and there is proof for that too. If you don’t believe me, ask Aaron, he has seen the proof about Dickson too. Betsy had a chance before the police chief ad, and may have still had a chance after, but this scandal will definitely sink her whole “effort”. Bye Bye Betsy!

I really think it’s common knowledge now that Steve Dickson is one of the people behind the Hattiesburg First ads. I haven’t seen any evidence of Bobby Chain being in the loop, but as I told the person that sent me the evidence, anyone can post whatever they have for everyone to see. Let the voters decide.

I just got through watching the 6 oclock news on WDAM. It was in regards to the GOP pamplet that davis mailed out to people…the head of the GOP of forrest county said, “this is not a GOP pamplet, the GOP had nothing to do with it, and this is just negitive advertising with nothing to back it up”. Well , Well, here we are the weekend before the primary, the peak time, with our primary news sourse saying you didnt get away with it lee jerrel. So if betsy was toast, looks like davis has spread some butter on it and it looks mighty tasty to now. It could have not happened at a better time..thank you mr.davis. “oh it taste so good”.

luther, luther, luther, wake up and smell the coffee. frist of all im not betsey, not even a lady. im jeff cauthen (by the way my middle name is davis and im proud of it)and i have no ties to any candidate in this race except my vote. what im looking at is issues. luther mr. barefield is not stating issues like police (safety to the citizens)or pot holes or the direction are town needs to go in, he just hates betsy rowell. now that makes me, a voter and a good repuplican not want to believe anything he says. he has an axe to grind and it apears he has your help now to do it. and that is surely your prorogative. its a free country and you can do what you like. I heard that Betsy sent out those mailers today to make it look like she was getting hit too. Supposedly it was all a hoax to take the heat off her because she tanked in the polls this week. Nice strategy but I think people know better than to think Mr. Davis had anything to do with them after what Betsy said in her negative ads. Mr Davis seems like a good man while Betsy has a reputation of being arrogant and mean-spirited and she will surely lose this election! Nice try mightytasty (now I KNOW its Betsy!), but I agree with Luther, you and your Rowell cool-aid drinkers can’t seem to admit defeat when it’s staring you in the face!

Mightytasty, I agree with some of what you said regarding the issues facing the city and Fairley’s racism, but you have got some major facts wrong. First of all, I saw the news and they never said Davis sent out the newsletter, it was sent by a PAC called citizens for hattiesburg or someting like that. In fact, in the whole story they NEVER even mentioned Davis’ name! If someone has proof that Davis sent it they should come forward just like the Davis Camp proved Betsy was behind Hattiesburg First. Second, I don’t live in Stone Barefield’s neighborhood so I don’t care about that vote, but I do know that he wasn’t getting $20 million. It was more like 1.2 million, but it’s none of my business anyway. My oposition to Rowell has nothing to do with Barefield, it has to do with her nasty pretentious attitude. She constantly has her nose in the air and she never smiles, I just can’t trust someone like that! Like Eagle said, stop drinking the Betsy Kool-aid and start thinking for yourself!

luther i tried to reach you on a civil and community level. but after the “drink betsey Kool-aid” remark i can see that effort was in vain. and i want try to reach you at all anymore. i see its not possible. you and eagle backer were not calling for proof when davis accused betsey of being behind “hattiesburg frist”(the proof you alluded to in your post was just an email which he never brought forward,at lest not publically so we could read it for ourselves) she said on tv she was not responcibe and whoever was to please stop. davis has not denied anything or ask anyone to stop. he continues his on negitive approach according to the head of the republican party in forrest county. and “eagle backer” i graduated from usm and back it in every way. and so does betsey. and i also care about how the majority of the people in their own neighborhood feel about having something like those apt. forced on them. that is what community is all about. i might one day need those people to support me when it happens to my neighborhood. The proof of her involvement was on WDAM Monday night and she was caught red-handed, maybe you were at spelling class that night! I was truly undecided until last week when the truth about Betsy M. Rowell was revealed. You can defend her all you want, because that’s what you get paid for, but half the things in your post weren’t even true and the other half was wishful thinking. Luther, MightyTasty couldn’t be Betsy. She has SOME intelligence (that she chooses to mis-use illegally). M.T., if character, honesty and integrity aren’t issues, then democracy will soon be dead. I am an attorney, and I take it very seriously. I would never abuse my position as an officer of the Court, by filing a lawsuit, especially one accusing public officials of crimes, simply to “grind an ax.” My father will not receive anywhere near $20 Million. That figure is what it will take the buyers to construct. You may want to engage your brain before putting your mouth, or hand for typing, in gear. Don’t you feel silly now?

mightytasty- I agree that Betsey would probably be the best choice between her and Davis. What is more important is that all of this fighting and arguing between these two and thier supporters are causing alot of hard feelings, building walls and turning people off. Only one will be able to run against MAYOR FAIRLEY and we need every vote we can get on the republican (not to mention the Democratic) side to vote FAIRLEY out of City Hall. Fairley is going to be hard enough to beat without all of this in-fighting. All of this is what Fairley wants to see, this will divide republican voters and help him at the polls. THINK PEOPLE!!!!!!! This is so hilarious! Migthytasty, I have debated with some Betsy supporters on this site many times and most of them at least make good arguments despite getting most of the facts wrong. You, however, are so blindly for Betsy for whatever reason that you put aside simple logic or you are in the worst state of denial I have ever seen. Do you honestly think that Betsy’s negative attacks through the Hattiesburg First group really helped her? That is insane. Not only did it hurt her but it is the main reason why she will lose tomorrow. If I’m wrong I promise I will come back here and say I was wrong. As far as the spelling, that just lends to your lack of education. Maybe that’s why you support Rowell, she didn’t finish college either. As far as Mayor Fairley, he does need to go. But Rowell has polarized the city so badly between her racially biased votes on the council and her racially insensitive comments on TV that even the white community won’t stand with her. If anyone but Davis or Senne wins then Dupree is a shoe in!

Luther, couldn’t have said it better. Betsy has, along with Carter Carroll and Red Bailey, divided the City along racial lines. Watching them, you’d think we were in the 1960’s, where their mentality remains! As a consertive who mostly votes republican, but strongly believes that we, as children of God, a just God, are created equal, I hope that we can keep moving forward on race relations and not elect racists (white or black) to positions of trust. For 4 years, by Carter Carroll’s own admission, those 3 council members devised a plan to discriminate against the 2 black council members and the Administration. Betsy was the ring leader of this strategy, and now she is exposed as the hateful, racist, arrogant snob that she is.

Let’s see, where do I start? First of all, the republican party voted overwhelmingly against Betsy and her negative campaign, the numbers don’t lie! Second, if you did know enough about politics to teach anyone ANYTHING you would see that there were heavily black precincts that seemed to turn out a lot of republican votes. Can you say party raiding? The GOP newsletter yuo refer to (which probably came from Betsy) was exactly right about the strategy. Republicans better wake up! Luther, what black precincts voted a lot of republican votes. eaton voted 17 rep. out of 497. East 6th street uso club voted 24 rep. out of 664 votes. dixe pine central 27 rep. out of 374 votes. Rowan School 21 rep. votes out of 1004 votes. where did you get your numbers, i got mine from the Hattiesburg American. And as far as no republicans switching from davis to rowell. i did exactly that. i was not convinced of her involvement in “hattiesburg frist” but she was the victim of the vicious negitive bombardments from “ask betsy” which i thought were over the top and baseless. just lawyers doin lawyer thigs. Also an influence on my switching from davis to rowell was the using of the GOP newsletter by davis supporters, which the GOP of mississippi and forrest county flatly denied being a part of and condemed as negitive advertising.. and i also believe that is what pushed rowell over the top. i was not the only one who switched from davis to rowell. several of my friends did also.

He is what Hattiesburg needs to break away from old habits and reach to a new and bright future. Let me first say that crow has quite an unpleasant taste. This is Hattiesburg politics, though, and I should’ve known better than to predict the outcome of an election. My problem is I use too much reason with my analysis, and the Hattiesburg Republican “powers that be” are not reasonable people, in my humble opinion. And I’ll explain why I think that.
There are two more elections to go. VISITOR, plenty of people know about what you speak. The word is spreading.
From the numbers I saw (and understand that Dupree’s total will increase by hundreds, perhaps to 4,000+–and don’t forget, Dupree had no real competition so there will be more out voting June 2), Betsy has an almost impossible task to be elected. The total Republican votes were 4,450. Betsy has alienated all three Republican candidates (Everyone recognized Coker toward the end in remarks about Betsy), she viciously attacked LJD and alienated a vast majority, if not all, of his supporters, and I’m sure all of you read Mr. Senne’s comment that he would not endorse either Republican candidate, and that he had not yet decided whether to endorse Dupree. Doing the math, and assuming Betsy wins the nomination, lets say all of Senne’s supporters either vote for LJD or stay home. If only half of LJD supporters vote for Betsy,she’d be fortunate. So, Betsy has her 2100 + 700 of LJD supporters, add another 480 for half od Senne’s and Coker’s supporters and what do you have? 3,300 votes = a losing ticket. Let’s further assume that it is true that the Democrats sent voters to cross over and vote for Betsy, due to her alienation of MORE than half of the Republicans(At least 53% of the “Republicans”–probably more than that if there WERE crossovers–voted AGAINST Betsy)and thus, be the easier candidate to beat, then it is mathematically impossible for Betsy to win.
On the other side of the coin, LJD is the ONLY Republican candidate with a snowball’s chance to win. I believe that Betsy’s support (the hard-core “powers that be” and the votes they control–a very tight/loyal group who vote together for only Republicans EVERY time) would never “lower” themselves to vote for a Democrat, so Lee Jarrel would have Betsy’s 2100 + his 1300+, half of Senne’s and Cokers, and ya get close to 4,000.
Anybody see it differently (besides Betsy, or whomever “Its worth a Taste” is)?

I read the post-primary posts after I posted the above. I wish I had time to read and respond to all of Tasty, but I don’t. The one comment I’ll make, she’s not aware that the lawsuit has not yet begun. The defendants have not filed answers, and the judge has recused himself. It usually takes 2-3 months for the Supreme Court to replace a recused judge. From that point it will be 1 1/2 to two years for a trial. As for a jury of her peers having already decided the lawsuit is BS, the jury at trial will consist of Forrest County residents living outside the City limits, so the “jury of peers” has not yet spoken. They will in a year or 2. The evidence will be presented, which will take weeks or more.
Betsy and her core support, which I know intimately–I am former Chairman of the Forrest County Executive Committee, are great politians (as Bill was and Hillary is, so I’m making no compliment) and usually win in the political arena (until 4 years ago when H’burg finally turned Democrat). With an outside judge and jury, Betsy will be on our turf, and I seldom lose at trial, and have won over 98% of my appeals. I won’t waste my time discussing the law with Tasty–so say what you wish, just make sure you are arounfd in 2 years to share some humble pie. I saved some for ya. It will still be fresh in June when you learn the math, if Betsy is nominated to face Dupree.

the fact is betsy will win the run-off. so if there is pie to eat i wont have to wait 2 years. the same type of republican voter that voted for betsy voted for lee(i know some of them).there was no cross over accordng to the papers numbers. lees backers feel the same about dupree and have stated in there post that they would vote for a fence post rather than dupree. also betsy just missed winning it all by less than a hundred votes. and your forgetting that lee is going to have to go negative to make up the points he is behind. he has no options except to attack betsy. this will just make betsy look more focused on the fight against dupree. betsy knows everything that dupree has done wrong, therefore she in a better position to debate him. although im am sure he will not debate her no matter what. this to will help betsy, people will want to know why he wont debate her. if he is forced into debate he will play right into her hands. she will be attaching dupree while davis is attaching her and the voters will be more interested in what she is saying and he will get lost in his attack. betsy has no reason to attack davis at all. she has already beaten him in the fist primary. so now she will consentrate totally on the issues which she is very familar with. Betsy Rowell is in a much better position to beat dupree than davis. people have said over and over there must be a change in the mayors office. that is just my opinion. for what its worth. my opinion was worth a lot in the frist primary. i was right. i might be wrong this time but i dont think so. that is something we will have to just wait and see. and i do think it was good of you to admit to eating crow. it showed honesty. now that thats done. we can start from here and maybe keep it civil and about issues and more concern about what is good for the town.
p.s. i could care less about the lawsuit it is none of my concern. and between you and the people you have filed against. but until a judge and jury respond to it. it has no baring on the election. she is innocent until you prove her guilty in a court of law. and to bring it up anymore is just another negaive attach on her. just your legal opinion. and im sure if it comes to trial she will have a lawyer with an opposite legal opinion. that is how it works. (and did you say that hattiesburg republicans are not reasonable people)your post sounds like you are for davis. but its hard to think of you as credible when your group “ask betsy” has stated that they want to destoy betsy at any cost. so i would suggest that folks take what you say with a grain of salt. and not fall under the spell of your legalese. and its not you that i write my post for. so im unconcerned whether you read them or not. they are just a counterpoint to yours. and they will continue till the end. finally to suggest that a candidate that lost a primary like davis did is the best candidate to beat the incumbent is reaching.

Betsy won a place in a primary runoff, 1,700 to 2,000 votes shy of what is necessary to WIN AN ELECTION, AND ALONG THE WAY SHE PISSED OFF OR ALIENATED A MAJORITY OF REPUBLICAN VOTERS. There’s a rabid Betsy-Wetsy fan that is one of 3-4 still blogging. Forwhatitsworth, who changed her name to MightyTasty, and, in Prince-like fashion, is now known as the BS Artist formerly known as Forwhatitsworth, who changed her name to MightyTasty. Me and a member named Luther Wilcox ( ) have been enjoying her somewhat unusual ramblings. I’ve copied and pasted our May 6 exchanges, but ya gotta go look over the past week or so. The last blog post, below, has me issuing her an interesting challenge, which she’s not up for. If she fails to provide any place date and time for us to compare our evidence of Betsy’s criminal and unethical acts against any scintilla of evidence she may have that she (the blogger) has any inkling of what occurred behind the scenes to cause council members to violate their oaths of office, commit embezzlement and bribery, and dereliction of duty, as well as violate ethics laws. If she simply agrees to meet and compare evidence (and actually shows up with something) then I will publicly post on here that I am wrong and she is correct. vICE VERSA, IF SHE FAILS TO MEET THE CHALLENGE!
This ought to be interesting, or at least entertaining. More likely, it will be boring and she’ll never respond. Unless it REALLY is BETSY-WETSY, as I’ve predicted at times, then her temptation to explode in psychopathic ramblings will provide us hours of entertainment!!!!!!

i did vist your forum..but no need for me to post there. since yall all have the same voice and since the lawyer/son post me there himself, i dont have to..i guess he needs me there because i have a keen insight into how the grass root folks feel. and he needs me to rally his puppets around. at frist i thought he was learning when he admitted he was so wrong about the frist primary, but now i see that was just to gain sympathy. bless his heart. he is trying so hard to do as his daddy says. and i admire that. but try to come up with a new slogan remember the toast one spawned me. lol and it proved inaccurate, and i would think somehow unlucky. but thats just me. its not much more than a week away and nothing has changed. both candidates layng low. good for betsy bad for lee. lee looks a little tired and long in the face. hope he cheers up so we at least have a race. if you examine the senne voters you might find out that they voted for him because he wasnt a career politician like davis, someone who will not be business as usual. every senne voter i have talked with is now supporting betsy, but i havent talked to all of them. and according to you it doesnt matter anyway. youve done the math. oh and i liked your numbers they were nice. but you see new elections have a way of creating new numbers. and dupree will diffinately get less this time. he will get less white votes because of his record and he has even divided african americans. but you prob. dont have any african american friends so i understand why you might not have a grasp for how that group feels. and if you were so concerned about corruption in city government you would be lookin into the current mayors behavior. but i forgot, dupree and fairley are on your side.

I was one of the guests on the forums during the postings being made by AskBetsy, and I can assure you his ban was worthy. Anyone with any experience in forums knows what it takes for someone to get banned -that it is something pretty serious. It is quite apparant that this is a forum of Pro-Betsy Rowell supporters who are trying to control the information that the viewing public can receive. Each and every post of Ask Betsy has been deleted. After everything that you have heard about Rowell, you decide what this site is REALLY all about. This will be AskBetsy’s last post. Our job is done on this website. The Owners have clearly shown their bias, and was contacted by Rowell, as shown in the “Want to Know More about Betsy Rowell?” Forum on May 11, 2005. Shortly thereafter, AskBetsy was banned, for the stated reason that he called RealityOfHub “Betsy.” AskBetsy had an opinion that the true name of the Reality character was Betsy. If not, she was admittedly close to Betsy, works at City Hall (which she now denies and they deleted her post that said she did), and delivered the message from Betsy. Thus, she was at least Betsy’s proxy. Betsy was invited to join us and debate (but this post is deleted, too.) Even though the site invites one to express their own opinions, even if it doesn’t agree with theirs, Betsy has “suddenly” obtained influence over the owners of the site to silence a voice of opposition. Another fact that may, perhaps, be relevant, is that the site is owned by a young paintballer, eager to increase his readership and thus attract advertising dollars. I’m not quite sure how or if that fact fits in with the others, but Im sure you viewers can see some possibilities, that may or may not be true. We hope the viewing public isn’t shielded from the truth. Much truth has come out during this campaign, and much more is left to be told. Vote your conscience on Tuesday.

Oops, on other thing, since they deleted this information. Betsy Rowell has alienated half of the Republican Party and many will not vote for her if she becomes the nominee. She really made Senne mad for trying to insult his character by offering to pay off his campaign debt if he will endorse her, according to the H’burg American. His supporters read the news. He may as well have endorsed LJD. Thanks Betsy for the endorsment. Many former Betsy supporters have seen the real Betsy Rowell and are jumping ship to offer their support to LJD. The tastless attack on LJD certainly guaranteed that few of his supporters will ever vote for Rowell, if she is nominated. Without these votes, Rowell can come nowhere near the votes Dupree already has sewed up.
Honesty in government, people, is what Hattiesburg needs. While I didn’t enter this campaign to support any particular candidate, the race is down to 2 Republicans, and LJD is Betsy’s opponent. I’ve known him and his family for many many years. He is an honest man. From personal experience over a substantial period of time, I could never make such a recommendation of Betsy Rowell.
Rowell supporters are too worried about beating Dupree and firing the Police Chief. They’ve counted their chickens before they’re hatched. If LJD is the nominee, Rowell supporters, most of them, will still vote against Dupree. Either Republican will have a tough battle to overcome the Dupree votes, but LJD has the better chance, because he hasn’t offended half the Republican Party, only a small core of Republicans who like to control things.
Vote your conscience!

The mayor wants Betsy in so he can come back for four more years he even had city employees to vote Rep. because he knows with all the complaining that the voters will not vote for Betsy and they will not vote either way just giving him another four years to let Fairley run the city. From what I have heard. Dupree/ Fairley wins they had their own supporters to vote for Betsy because he knew he could beat her rather than LJD! LJD is giving the election to them! From the numbers I saw (and understand that Dupree’s total will increase by hundreds, perhaps to 4,000+–and don’t forget, Dupree had no real competition so there will be more out voting June 2), Betsy has an almost impossible task to be elected. The total Republican votes were 4,450. Betsy has alienated all three Republican candidates (Everyone recognized Coker toward the end in remarks about Betsy), she viciously attacked LJD and alienated a vast majority, if not all, of his supporters, and I’m sure all of you read Mr. Senne’s comment that he would not endorse either Republican candidate, and that he had not yet decided whether to endorse Dupree. Doing the math, and assuming Betsy wins the nomination, lets say all of Senne’s supporters either vote for LJD or stay home. If only half of LJD supporters vote for Betsy,she’d be fortunate. So, Betsy has her 2100 + 700 of LJD supporters, add another 480 for half od Senne’s and Coker’s supporters and what do you have? 3,300 votes = a losing ticket. Let’s further assume that it is true that the Democrats sent voters to cross over and vote for Betsy, due to her alienation of MORE than half of the Republicans(At least 53% of the “Republicans”–probably more than that if there WERE crossovers–voted AGAINST Betsy)and thus, be the easier candidate to beat, then it is mathematically impossible for Betsy to win.
On the other side of the coin, LJD is the ONLY Republican candidate with a snowball’s chance to win. I believe that Betsy’s support (the hard-core “powers that be” and the votes they control–a very tight/loyal group who vote together for only Republicans EVERY time) would never “lower” themselves to vote for a Democrat, so Lee Jarrel would have Betsy’s 2100 + his 1300+, half of Senne’s and Cokers, and ya get close to 4,000.
Anybody see it differently (besides Betsy, or whomever “Its worth a Taste” is)?
Sounds mighty accurate to me. Bu then again, I’m not much of a “told-ya-so” kinda guy. Just not in my nature. (wink, wink)

responce to notgonavote. it is obvious that you are the one with the child like behavior. there was never any proff of betsy being responcible for any negative ads. i agree that the frist hattiesburg people did not like ljd. but betsy had nothing to do with it. i talked to dickson myself. and if you dont vote you are in fact voting for dupree. you should not only vote for betsy you shoule encourage your friends to. this is not about negative ads this is about defeating durpree and fairly. now the voters have stated with there votes they they feel like betsy is more able to defeat dupree and fairly. and like a child you do not except what you dont want to. just because you lost. stop acting like a baby and be a man and help all of us defeat dupree and fairley. dont cut your nose off to spite your face. which is exactly what you are doing. one of the reasons ljd lost was he would not get off the attack on betsy and state what he would do. he has no one to blame for his defeat other then himself and the awful askbetsy people and there negative campaign. so be a man and help your neighbors. any good republican would put down his davis banner and pick up his betsy banner. that is what good people do .. the rep. in the town have spoken. you can either stand with them or against them but you cant stand in the middle. be a man

mike barefield failed again..lol we want be seeing that racist here anymore. he lost on every point. he was never accurate about one thing. never have i seen a worse record on one election. now im sure betsy can beat dupree cause bairfield is saying she cant. he is has made such a fool out of himself. its very rare that a poupous bully gets a sound beating but the town has spoken on how they feel about the barefields..and i will bet any amount that they lose there legal thing. he is a lawyer that obvioulsy bases his cases on shaky grounds. mike and his dad are toast. burnt toast..tonight they are eating crow….isnt it great to know that mean spirited people like the barefields have no support. and betsy is on a role if she can just keep the momentum goin she is our new mayor. the blacks will vote in a block for him. the whites must do the same for betsy. ljd did not endorse her so he is not goin to be reelected. he was write about negitive campaigning it killed him
