You know...there are ways to lower your power bill. (I live in an old, drafty, poorly insulated house too, and my power bills aren't that bad)

You can call that 543-LIST guy his name is Kevin and he might be able to find something.. He was asking me if I knew of anyone wanting I think its 2 bedroom maybe 3 bedroom in my neighborhood to rent.. I saw the place its alright.. the owner is HOT and she seems to be a good landlord.. XC9 maybe can help you find something send her a PM..Is it just you or how many need a place to live?
Is the owner of said property single and living on the premises? I may want to move in.

The place Im talking about is within walking distance of USM. The female landlord is HOT and she is trying to fix it up for some great tenants. 3 people might be alittle crowded. Some ways to conserve is wash & dry clothes at night when the central heat & air isn't running. If nobody is at home turn everything off leave one light on. Set your thermostat at one tempature and leave it do not touch it. if its cold put more clothes on if its HOT take more clothes off.. On a day like today open some doors and just live off the outside tempatures..

Consider getting a programmable thermostat. You can set it to automatically change the temp for when you're actually home and need it to be warmer. I keep the house cooler in the winter and I deal with warmer temps in the summer as well. But ideally, in the winter, when I'm not in the house, the thermostat is set at 55. When I am in the house, it's at 60-62. At night, it goes back down. (That's why I have an electric blanket and a down comforter) It kicks on before I get up to take the chill off the house. In the summer, the AC only comes on when it's 78 or above in the house.
Use your window coverings to your advantage. In the winter, open the blinds to take advantage of the sunlight. In summer, keep them closed to keep the house cooler.
If your hot water heater is electric, consider setting it down a notch.
If you have ceiling fans, use them to help circulate the air. Change the direction on them in the winter to help push the warm air down.
Consider getting a retractable clothesline or two. I really only use the dryer for my towels...I find my clothes have a lot less wear and tear if they don't have to go through the dryer, which saves a bit of money in the long run in addition to the savings of not running the dryer.
My electric bills hover around $60-70/month.

wow...that is really good for power bills - how many bedrooms do you have...we have two bedrooms, one bathroom, livingroom and kitchen and our bills are currently running us like 150...its ridiculous...we havnt been using the thermostat at all except last night i had to turn it on bc it got hot...we barely used at all when it was cold..and we consolidate our washes..i just dont know why it keeps getting so high
noway...well see my brother and his gf basically live together and that is the way it is right now...two bd/one bath - 3 ppl....do u know how we could get in touch with the landlord and find out all the info on the place...
right now we are paying like 575 for rent, avg 150 for power and of course cable and internet...so that is around what we are looking for, but we can consider higher...also do u know if she allows for pets?

It sounds like my configuration is the same as yours. It's just me here, so I have the spare bedroom closed off and the vent in that room is covered.

I could use a babysitter. Well what I really need is a designated driver. BTW taking your clothes off is a great way to save on your power bill! :smt118
