Ok, so I'm a sucker for sappy movies. I own this dvd in widescreen and fullscreen as well as a cd of the soundtrack. It was that good so if you haven't seen it, watch it. Just be sure to have a box of tissue beside you! Even the males I have spoken with who have seen it agree this movie pulls at your heart strings! :) It has definitely become one of my favorites.

This is one of my favorite movies. I cry every single time I watch it and I've seen it about 7 times. Even my husband likes it and cries!

We just watched it on TV the other day and it was wonderful! I didn't cry, like I thought I would, but it was a very sweet, romantic movie. It is one that I could add to my collection :-).

I really enjoyed watching it too.... several times. Even my ex-husband watched it multiple times with me. Still cry - every time.

Please don't tell what the alternate ending is on here! If anyone asks, send them a private message, because I want to read the book and don't want the ending spoiled. ;)

Also, did everyone watch the deleted scenes? They show Ally giving Noah the notebook.

Nicholas Sparks, author of The Notebook and several more novels, including Message in a Bottle, is such a passionate writer.

I received 2 of his books for my birthday last Thursday - The Wedding & At First Site - and I'm almost finished with The Wedding. I can't wait to start the other one. I plan to collect all of his novels.

Has anyone else read any of them and enjoyed them as much as me?

Nicholas Spark doesn't do a whole lot for me. I've read a couple...The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Message in a Bottle. They don't appeal to me. Seem very predictable and formulaic. Lots of cliches. But I know other people absolutely love them.

I do too. Try the Outlander series (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0440212561/103-5434394-0510223?v=glance&n=283155)by Diana Gabaldon. ;) Love story that spans centuries and generations. *sigh*

I read some of the reviews on that and it doesn't seem like it would appeal to me at all (violence, rape, etc..)

One of the things I loved about The Notebook was that most of it was about the 1940's, an era in which I would have loved to live. I appreciated that the novel didn't include foul language, and its love scene was tasteful and mild compared to what's found in many other novels. It was a story that touched me in a deeply personal way, like none other before.

Call me old fashion, but I loved it.

The violence is actually a very small part of it. Complex, gripping and makes you think. Uncomfortable at times, but very well done on the whole.

Naaahh. If I want one like that - complex, gripping and makes me think - I'll read a good thriller/murder mystery.

When I'm craving a good love story, leave out all of the aforementioned.

It's sort of like when I get a craving for pizza. I want pepperoni, sausage, proscuitto ham, mushrooms, bell peppers, etc.. Don't give me bbq or chicken or taco pizza. :smt118 :)

warning to all husbands

If you watch The Notebook with your wife and if you don't respond in just the right way, saying just the right words (which in this case only she will know), at the end of the movie, you can get in big trouble in a hurry!!

Remember I warned you. For some of you, it may already be too late.

I have read 'The Wedding', 'Message in a Bottle', and 'A Walk to Remember'. I loved the first one, and the next two were good, but sad. I just started reading 'At First Sight.

I read 'The Letter' by Richard Paul Evans and absolutely loved it. I definitely plan to get more of his books. :smt023

I read every single book he comes out with! He is my absolute favorite author. His books are easy to read, but even easier to get totally wrapped up in. He's got a new one coming out the end of this month.

This is definitely a movie worthy of the "chick-flick" category. I do agree that everyone should see it at least once, though.
