property and home value online?

Hey guys, I just came across this website where it allows you to look up the property appraisal value of your home and how much you pay per year in taxes. You can search by last name or address in a few counties in Mississippi (including Forrest and Lamar) and in Alabama.
However, I remain skeptical, because when I looked up my name, the amount of money in taxes paid was exactly right, but my property appraisal just didn't seem correct.

my property appraisal was not right either, nor was it correct for the home that I am purchasing for my mother. The taxes were correct though.

The appraisal information available on the Delta Computer Systems web site is based on the assessed value for tax purposes, not the market or replacement value (which will be higher).

That said, the DCS web site is still an interesting resource for locating information.
