I just watched this last night on on-demand cable (which is nice to have BTW). This was a great movie. I would highly recommend it.

It is set pre-WW II in Japan. The girl and her sister are sold and they become seperated. The girl becomes a slave to the "Mother" and then eventually works to become a geisha. There is jealously from an older geisha who she has worked for, and that comes in to play during the bidding for the girl (who is still a virgin). Then the war comes and things change. The girl has a secret love that she can not share, and that conflict is throughout the story line as well.

It was a great movie and the scenery and women are just beautiful. I had been wanting to see this movie, and it was better than I thought it would be.

If you saw this movie, what did you think? (I tried to make this as a poll but screwed it up).

It was okay... It's not an owner title, IMO. There are some movies I can watch monthly, weekly, or daily. Some are once in a lifetime. Some are a complete waste of time. This was definitley a solid must see once.

I agree, it's one to see but you'd only want to watch it once. I don't ever buy movies. We do Blockbuster on-line so we get movies all of the time. I love having them delivered and getting just what we want. I watched 3 movies this weekend on Comcast's on-demand - this one, Prime, and North Country.
