Wow. I wasn't expecting much out of this film, but it was fantastic. I loved the "camera" angles during the race scenes. The comedy was there and I laughed out loud several times. It was more than amusing in some parts.

There are several life lessons taught, and plenty of adult humor to keep the grown ups in check. The animation is what you would expect out of Pixar. The short, One Man Band is also great.

If you've ever watched more than 5 minutes of a NASCAR race, you'll enjoy the spoofing of the races. I would not consider myself a NASCAR fan (I never want to actually attend a race and couldn't tell you who drives more than two of the cars) but I got most of the jokes... I'm sure there are tons more in there somewhere.

We're going again tomorrow with my mom and sister who are race fans. Larry the Cable guy is great as Tow Mater. Gerorge Carlin as Fillmore is great for his few lines. The Itallian tire guys are great too. It's got several references to other Pixar movies (what would a Pixar movie be without them?) that are very funnny, and of course, if you go, make sure you sit through all the credits (easy to do with the music video playing) to see the after credit scene that Pixar usually does.

Go see it, you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the review CB. My kids have been asking to see it so I guess we will give it a shot.

BTW, it was good to meet you today. I'm just sorry that we wound up a separate tables and didn't get much of a visit. Maybe next time.

A bit on Pixar references within the film. These aren't really spoilers, but if you don't want any hint of what's to come, don't read:

On the trip to California with Mack, there's a 1/4 second shot of "The Birds" on the powerlines, a refernce to the Pixar short. During the first credit roll, there's a great scene of the drive in and they're showing car versions of Pixar movies, which are hilarious. Stay through the cheezy slow-motion country song video during the last bit of credits... read the credits, those guys joke around in there too... but all the way at the end is a 5 second scene that continues something that happened in the first 30 minutes of the movie. I think only about 2 people stayed Saturday to see it, and 10 or so during the Friday showing I attended.

CARS was awesome. Took the kids to see it Friday. It was everything CB said and more. Tow Mater was hilarious. Owen wilson is the main car- he had some good lines. Who was the voice of the Porche? I thought this was one of the better Pixar movies.

The Porche was Bonnie Hunt.

Took my kids to see it and we loved it. Growing up in the country, I really thought the tractor-tipping was hilarious. I couldn't stop laughing. You could definately tell the adult humor from the kid humor. Pixar does really good movies.

Finding the toys is a problem. We bought Fillmore before the movie came out, now he's going for $20 on Ebay. You can't find the cars ANYWHERE anymore. I'm glad we bought the one's we did when we did.

My kid wants a Frank toy (the combine). The only thing we could find was a Tractor Tipping game that had a small plastic Frank in it. It'll do for now, but he says Frank's all blank on the side (meaning there's no detail, like in the movie or his other cars) and Frank's too small to play with the other cars.

I'm willing to go see every one of them, at least twice... Until they start disappointing me, I'll pay more than any other to see them.

Agreed, they all seem to well made and have been executed with exceptional cinematogrophy so far, but to me it's feeling like it's about to peak and begin lose a bit of it's luster just for the fact that there are sooo many out there now. :smt102 Could be just me though. I'm sure kids will continue to see anything their parents are willing to take them to.

I saw this movie for the first time on DVD last evening with my youngest daughter and it really is great. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and watch it. It would make a great stocking stuffer for Christmas.

There's a couple of big listd of inside jokes and references to other movies here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cars_%28film%29) and here (http://imdb.com/title/tt0317219/trivia). I love looking for this stuff during Pixar films - although it means sometimes I'm laughing in the theater when nobody else is...

Sometime, when you're bored, you can just go through all the Pixar movies and find references to past and future pixar movies. Once, I took the time to read the book titles on the book shelf in Andy's room in Toy Story. Man, that kid is SMART!!!
