what is a reputation comment?

Updating my profile today I noticed that I had two reputation comments; I was just wanting to know what these were and what purpose they served. Pardon my lack of internet skills!!!!

Reputation is a system on the forum to build just that, a reputation. Someone else on the forum gives you a reputation comment to either build up or break down your reputation on the forum. You currently have 4 reputation points.
