I have said it in the New Orleans shooting thread its getting serious.. Mayor Melton of Jackson wanting National Guard Help. City Of New Orleans.. I listen to the scanner alot and call after call is gun related.. Its not all Wynn's fault.. Times have changed since Katrina...

I don't think anyone has said that the increase in crime is directly related to Wynn, only his response, or lack of it, to crime has been ineffective or nonexistent. And the small size of a patrolling police force is not helping in deterrence.

Queen and Bill, I agree with you both! It is like Mayor Dupree (and Fairley) have their heads buried in the sand! Just admit we have a problem and get on with what it takes to rectify the situation! Of course this can't happen with the p.d. in the shape it is in!

First Avenue in Laurel has always been a dangerous place ever since I can remember.
War was declared by wrong-doers on these neighborhoods a long time ago. It's nice that finally someone is taking notice...I guess.

See how long it takes Mayors Dupree & Fairly to declare war on crime in H'burg. It seems to be the thing now. In political trouble?, "declare war on something!!!!" War on drugs, war against terror, war on crime.

Maybe someone should start a business, ya know kind of like that old TV Show "Have Gun, Will Travel". Paladin. Are you having a problem with crime in your neighborhood, then call Paladin, I'll take care of it for you. Jacksons Mayor is right in letting people know whats going on. Wouldn't we all like to know exactly what is going on in our city. I mean crime has definately gotten ridiculous in this town. We have curfews for our children, which don't seem to be working. I mean drive down some of the avenues after midnight sometime. I live on one of them and there have been quite a few occasions where Ive seen children out riding their bikes or walking around. Im not sure about noise ordinances either in our city, but if one more person drives by my house at midnight with that damn rap music(excuse me, rap noise) shaking my windows, I personally think I will grab a gun and blow out their tires, shoot their speakers and steal their spinners. Never in my life have I heard more sirens in this city( you kind of expect that in Jackson, or New Orleans) but Hattiesburg, its just not normal. Theft is up, murder or assault is up, robbery is up along with misdemeanor crimes. As ole Barney Fife would say its time to nip it in the bud.:smt070

Where is Dupree's voice in Hattiesburg?
It appears that DuPree's voice is heard only when his string is pulled by Ken Fairley.

Where is Dupree's voice in Hattiesburg?
Maybe he left it in the collection plate at Mt. Carmel along with his backbone.

I used to live and work in the Laurel area and you will be waiting a long time for "victory" to be declared in that war. Mack talks to the press more than DuPree, but anyone who knows him well will tell you that he is the absolute wrong general for a war on crime. Still, I wish him good luck.
