The Break-Up . . . an unconventional romantic comedy that follows a couple’s often comical, sometimes painful, but always entertaining journey into the unraveling and deconstruction of a once solid and loving relationship.
VINCE VAUGHN and JENNIFER ANISTON star as Gary and Brooke, a couple who let a seemingly small argument escalate out of control and suddenly find themselves -- after two years together -- confronted with the choice between love and loss.
With the once happy couple standing their ground and refusing to move out of the condo they’ve shared and showered with attention, an all-out war of the exes breaks out. The Break-Up boasts an all-star supporting cast of friends and family who come to give Gary and Brooke advice and direction from every possible perspective.
This movie was a lot different from what I was expecting. It was still pretty good and funny, but a lot more serious than I thought it would be. One of the things I liked about it, was it seemed very real and not too played up.

I thought this movie could have actually had a few more laughs... The writer had a great idea for an unconventional romantic comedy, but I think he forgot the COMEDY part.
My boyfriend and I watched it together (He would probably kill me if he knew I told anyone! haha) And there were alot of uneasy, way to serious, parts. As I said before... NOT ENOUGH LAUGHS!
And as for the ending.... not very "feel good".

There was one part of the movie where I felt like I shouldn't be watching, because it was one of those moments where it started out kinda amusing, then turned ugly. One of those moments, in real life, you say 'O-KAY' in your head and turn around to leave the two to argue. Instead, I had to sit though it to see what the next scene was. I was impressed that I got that feeling from a movie, because it's so rare.
It's a definite must rent, not so much on the own side, as you really only need to see it once every 3-5 years to remember.
I didn't much care for the ending, even the alternative ending was weird.

I could identify with the Vince Vaughn character in a few instances, although I'd never do some of the things he did. Honestly, 1/2 the time, we men don't know we're being the insensitive assholes we're accused of being. I'd go so far as to say 99% of the time.

okay... and most of the time, we females realize that..... but the problem comes when we try to give you guys time to realize or bring it to your attention that you are being insensitive: ON THE DEFENSE, here we go!
JUST LIKE IN THE MOVIE. ( or either you guys ignore us) :smt054

I'm being serious. There's so many times my wife gets mad at me for something I never heard. I didn't purposefully not hear her.

Oh, we've had the conversation many times. She finds it hard to believe that I *don't* hear her. Can't argue with the facts, though. Seriously, facts do nothing to bolster the argument.
My wife and I are very, very open with one another. But, we're like that in life, too. You're going to know what we're thinking 99% of the time, whether you want to know or not.

Ok, six months later, I finally rented it. I agree that it was a lot more serious than I expected it to be. They basically put all of the funny parts in the trailer. I thought it was a good look at what some relationships are and what they go through.

A lot of it was so true! I expected it to be a "chick flick", but guys would appreciate it too. Acting out all of the little things women and men do to get the other's attention was hilarious.

Decent movie.
Naked Jennifer even though you didn't see more then plumbers crack was still great. (the frontal shot pic was released a few months ago that showed more then what was seen in the movie. )

I enjoyed this movie. A lot of it hit close to home. The ending actually WAS feel good for me, because it showed that even though they were still broken up, life goes on, and things can still be good.

Off Topicish:
For those of you that were uncomfortable and felt like you should leave the room, don't watch the TV show "The Office." That show makes me feel SO uncomfortable that I just really can't enjoy it, even though it is funny lots of the time.
