2000 Max Bet
Bet on whether the space shuttle is able to take off tomorrow. They have a six minute window (3:48 - 3:54pm ET) in which to launch tomorrow. If they miss it, they have to wait until Sunday.

weather.com shows a 30% chance of rain tomorrow at 3pm ET. NASA reports that there are currently no technical issues, and that afternoon thunderstorms should be the only cause of delay. Click here (http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/release/1999/39-99.htm) for additional information on weather requirements for space shuttle launch.

We've had afternoon thunderstorms all week in Orlando. Over 16,000 lightning strikes in the area on Tuesday afternoon. I'm not so sure about the launch tomorrow, but I don't really want to bet against it.

Do you have time to shoot over to cape Canavrel and watch the launch?

I don't. They launch at 3:49; I have work starting at 2. However, if the launch is delayed, I can go on Sunday. That's why I have mixed feelings about the launch tomorrow. I'm told that I'll be able to see the engine plume from the worksite in Orlando, so I'll step outside and try to see what I can see.

I'm going to try. I won't have time to drive to Titusville, but I am told that the launch will be viewable from Orlando. I'm on the 25th floor, and have a great eastern view. If I can get them, I'll be sure to post them.

Discovery successfully launched at 2:38pm ET today... scheduled to dock with space station on Thursday.
God speed the crew of STS-121.
SoMissTV...sorry it didn't work out for you to see it in person. Hard to imagine that much power.

They said they found a piece of foam near the vehicle prior to launch. When I hear this report, I was thinking, oh no. Then, I heard that the peice was 3" in size. Then that crack they were talking about in the foam was 1/8" deep and 5 " long. That doesn't seem that significant to me, but, I'm no rocket scientist. Seems that the piece they showed in the Columbia lauch was MUCH bigger than 3".
