I find this difficult (though sadly not impossible) to believe.

Must be that low pay DDD was talking about... if they cut off the illegal robbing, maybe the rest of the department will leave, cause you know all cops are crooked, according to the rappers.

Is this fact or fiction? I just heard the FBI had arrested a H'burg policeman for stopping Mexicans and taking all their money. :smt118
I wonder if the HPD officer was "profiling" Mexicans because of their ethnicity.
Would the Chief condone such "discriminatory" practices?

Aren't you supposed to bribe the cops in Mexico anyhow? Maybe there was some 'miscommunication'.?
Don't know if the Feds arrested one, but it may be true.

Hawkeye sweetie, did this alleged arrest happen recently? I heard about an officer being fired from H'burg Police in the past for taking money from a Mexican after arresting him. Could this be what you are speaking of? :smt102

Who was thinking it was Prentiss? Joe Law, I don't think we have manny aliens over there that I know of. I didn't follow that thought..
I'll keep my ear to the ground on the other.

I think he was talking about all of the murders in Prentiss lately. For a small population, there sure is a lot of crime in Jeff Davis County.

Yes, that's my hometown. I know. Some may never be solved. Joe Law's Baby Baghdad site in pine belt was informative.
If the above accusation about taking money is true it seems like a few situations of people counting on illegals not reporting it may like the lotteries on here. You never know.

Once again, the fact are mixed up. The Mexicans in question complained that an officer took their money, but could not remember when or where. They could not even pick the officer out of a lineup. The "sworn statement" they gave to the chief was not written by them, but by a translator because they could not read, write, or speak in english. I don't think it's legal for someone to write a "sworn statement" for someone else. The officer in question is one of the few who was determined to stick with HPD through thick and thin. If HPD fires this officer, they will be losing a very good officer who loves working in Hattiesburg. I don't believe he would resign. He knows he did nothing wrong and intends to stand by his statements (i.e. the truth). Also, the Mexicans in question, told the IA investigator (by translator) that they were in this country illegally and had been for some time. However. nothing was done to remedy THAT problem. The only reason they are mad is because the officer made them walk home (about 500 feet) because neither one had a driver's license. By law, he could not let them drive away.

This story sounds so similar to the one Jessica spoke about...those officers had to be hired back..although they have since left. Same song, different verse...all I can say is I hope when the truth comes out it will be the same as before, the officers were cleared of wrong doing, was paid back pay and was hired back. It is a shame that the chief chooses to believe these people over his officers. I know when an accusation is made it has to be investigated but hey, give me a break, when they can't i.d. the officer, I have serious doubts if it ever even happened!

All them white people look alike.
Are these the same two guys who were in a pickup-beige I think-and started trouble at coyotes the other night?

That seems strange. If someone took my money I'd know who , when and where. I'd raise cane.
I'm truly sorry that officer is being falsely accused.
It does seem like our priorities are messed up.
I have a? for you Pharmcop and any others that can help. I am very concerned about the leadership of this police force and the way they're being treated and also the leadership of the city. I am wondering should I go directly to the police chief and mayor with my concerns or show up at my neighborhood meetings in ward 3 and go to city council meetings?
I'm concerned that wynn and Dupree may have an open door but maybe not open ears or open minds. I know I should count as a constituent but maybe I,m not on their agenda? I want to not waste my time and work the way that gets the most results w/o retaliation? You can use this forum or pm me. I,m probably not the only one with this?
I would appreciate your thoughts and suggestions.

Go to a City Council meeting, put Dupree on the spot, toherwise he'll sweep it under the rug.
That's what I'd say. Go to the Council meeting and use your 5 minutes to state your concerns. Don't expect any real answers, but, at least, you'll have others there and they won't just label you as a racists disgruntled whitey.

Nothing will change if we don't get together as a large group and attend meetings together. Power comes from large groups sticking together.

go to your city council meeting. It really doesn't matter, unless Fairley wants something to be done about your problems.

Thanks Pharmcop!!! I'm not surprise that they(Mexicans) couldn't read, write, or speak English (although they probably can). They don't ever seem to be able to read, write, or speak English when confronted by Law Enforcement personnel or go to the hospital ER. I,too, don't believe that it is legal for someone to write a "sworn statement" for someone else. Guess I'll have to go review my notes from training!

I just got word of this whole situation with the cop and the mexicans. I cannot believe that this guy's administration is not standing behind him in all of this. I heard that this guy is one of the few good guys left at the hattiesburg police dept and they aren't even helping him out? I don't understand why they believe an illegal mexican over their own employee...

The customer is always right. You gotta fire employees until you get no complaints.

A police dept is not a resturant where the customers are always right. they will always have complaints so are they supposed to fire every employee that receives one? There would not be anyone serving our city if that were the case. If the police dept does not get any complaints then they aren't doing their job right. However, the admin is supposed to back them up when they do receive a complaint and hburg admin is doing just the opposite to this guy. I think pharmcop would agree with this one since he knows the details of this situation....

Oh, I know... I was being sarcastic. Wynn's goal is no complaints.
No complaints-good stats. That is all he worries about.
