View Full Version : New Petal Logo
politically incorrect

Petal has a new logo. It shows people relaxing under a tree near a river. It replaces the logo that was a copy of the city's street grid.
What do you think? It looks ok and all, but was it really necessary? They are going to have to replace the patches on all city uniforms and repaint the sides of city vehicles to display the new logo. Does anyone really care?

I guess they raised the water prices so they could repaint that new logo all over everything. :smt102

it's okay, I guess. I wish the place on the logo existed. It looks like a nice place to spend a day or so.

that was modeled after gordon's creek in hattiesburg, where a family can go on a picnic and not worry that they will be robbed and their car stolen

I think Gordon's creek is worse than the Leaf River.

any1 got a link to where i can see the new logo? i know it's really lame that i'm from petal and don't even know what's going on! :smt103 i haven't read the HA in a few days, and the Petal Journal doesn't come out until today. i did see a partial picture of the logo being painted, but it didn't show the entire picture/logo.
i think it is time for a change in the logo, and hopefully the new logo will be a "vision" of nice things to come for Petal. (hey, i can dream, can't i?!) :smt102
seriously, from what i've heard the new logo is meant to reflect i really think it will more accurately reflect a "friendlier", slower-paced place to live. since Petal's slogan is "The Friendly City", i believe the new logo will be more in line with that. IMO, anything is an improvement over the current logo, which wasn't really anything one would remember or "reflect" on for any length of time.

Plus, the mosquitos would be eating them up. The city has purchased some land near the Leaf River to be used as soccer fields and a park. I hope they give away cans of "Off".

Why Don't They Take The Money They Are Spending On The New Logo And Fix The Damn Water Leaks And Potholes All Over The City.
People Wonder Why They Raised Water Bill Prices, Because They Have To Compensate For All The Water They Are Loosing In The Middle Of The Road Daily.

I agree!!! They should also use the money to increase the pay for those who keep the city safe (Police & Fire Department)!!!

A water pipe near my mother-in-law's house has been leaking for months. It is not on her side, so it does not run up her meter, but she has called the city about this several times. She was told that there are "hundreds" of leaks all over town and they will get to it as soon as they can.
How did the conditions of the water system get this bad? I know there had to be money spent toward upkeeping the existing lines in previous administrations. Where did that money go? It is deplorable to allow your infrastructure to deteriorate to this point.

I would rather stay in Petal myself, goober or not. You run the risk of being mugged in Hattiesburg and Grovers have their noses in the air. (Just kidding, Grovers).

The new logo sucks.
Why didn't hey hire an artist?
It looks like it was drawn by a dyslexic fourth grader with no sense of proportion or perspective.
Is that a bridge or a cliff?
If it's a bridge why does it have no rails? Or are those rails?
It's so badly drawn I can't tell.
If they were in proportion to the road those people would have to be 40 ft tall.
I don't think the argument of wasting money on a new logo is valid because no one would have spent money on a piece of art this bad.
They probably had an art contest in the grade school to come up with this in which case it's a good effort & I applaud the child that came up with it.
If it was an adult, turn in your Waycom tablet & get a job at McD's.
