I think several people in the black community are waking up. They are starting to realize that Fairley is the guilty party in this messy situation that our city government is in. I commend Mr. Jones for his letter.

I too thought this was well written. It is true that race relations in Hattiesburg are way above the situation in the Delta.

I want to say THANK YOU MR. JONES for such a fine letter! It is apparent that you love this city and only have its best interest at heart! I can only hope your letter causes "others" to wake up, smell the coffee before it is too late! I, for one am proud to have you as a citizens of Hburg! You speak the truth and I all appreciate you telling it like it is!

Great letter! I wonder if Jackson Brown (and others) are helping to encourage members of the black community to stand up against Fairley and his crew?

Excellent letter! I'm glad that other people from the black community are speaking out. It's a refreshing change! I totally agree and see all his points.

Mr. Elijah Jones, whom I'm glad to recognise as a fellow '70's era HHS classmate--since his return from some 15 years out-of-state about 15? years ago--has always been the voice of reason, high standards/ideals, and progressive common sense for the WHOLE community of Hattiesburg (including the "black" part of it)...His loyalty to the Hub and visionary good intentions for Hattiesburg cannot be questioned...He ought to be a multi-term Mayor of Hattiesburg!

I know Mr. Jones, though I haven't seen him around for a while.
I know him to be intellegent, reasonable & well spoken, unfortunately I don't think he qualifies as black, because I don't think he goes to Mt Carmel Church.
