Only 3 problems??? Who is this guy fooling?? :smt102
I also love the part about how he shows up to the neighborhood association meeting right as they are starting to leave. What a reliable Chief we have. I'm sure the reason he was late was because he was out fighting crime with the few good men and women we have left on our force.
(But I wouldn't bet on it)

What he should have said is the three problems are "me, myself, and I."

Kitty, boy did you hit that nail square on the head! I was at the meeting last night....it was really odd seeing everyone leaving via the east door to the auditiorium as the chief was coming in the west door! As I said in a previous post to another MH threat...his actions were so rude!!! THAT in itself should prove a point others have been trying to get across!

better yet, he should have said the three problems are you (Fairley), me (Wynn), and Dupree.

Mr. Coyote? I believe we have the first reference. Isn't that worthy of some sort of prize? It was pretty clever. :smt038

Glad to hear that someone on the fourms saw this first hand! Did many folks stick around once he did show up? Did he answer any of the tough questions or just dance around the real issues?

Pathfinder: I would say 90 % of the people had left or were leaving to go out the door when he walked in...not too many people were left except for maybe a few of the association officers and a very few members...they appeared to be busy cleaning the auditorium up for the most part...I was totally disguisted and left...I REALLY didn't want to hear anything he had to say at that point! Besides it was probably the same ole sh**!!!! I just thought it was so rude of him....Charles Lawrence however did an excellent job with his presentation!

Hey JB,
The three prolems could also be Wynn, Missenhitler, and Simms!
So very true!

I'm begining to show signs of Wynnapathy, I just don't care what he says or does anymore. It's like living next to the train tracks for so long you just quit hearing it.

I would like to site a thread in the "Pinebelt" forum. It's about the new donut place in Petal.
We know Petal's PD has been improving (I think they even got some of our former officers.)
Could this be due to the presence in Petal of high quality donuts?
Could a donut deficiency be the cause of the problems at HPD?
Perhaps Wynn should consider this a possible 4th problem.
Perhaps the friction within the dept. is not racial in nature, but rather pastry based.
You never know how much good could be accomplished with the judicious application of Crullers.
maybe a Bavarian Cream.

What time was the Old Rev.Farley son arrested? maybe that was why Wynn was late.he was trying to decide how to get Fairley off from him being arrested. Im sure he was called as soon as they put the cuffs on that old drug dealer. Wynn should RESIGN , Oh!! I wished he would.

I know I'm being a pest , but I really don't think we at MH are paying enough attention tho the donut crisis.

In the paper Wynn says it's up to us to secure our valuables. It's hard to secure your wallet when someone sticks a gun in your face and tells you to give it to him.

Under Wynn's watch, a KK was built (I still see KKK everytime I see their flag). Of course, they lost the Shipley's on Westover after Katrina, but it was failing long before then. Katrina was just a good excuse to close shop.
Hattiesburg's still even on donut places, but total donut hours (hours the donut shop's are open) has increased. Maybe they need less donuts and less distraction.

Give the HPD a raise but do not forget the Hattiesburg FireFighters they deserve and have earned a raise. They already earn substantially less than Police Offceirs of the same time in service and rank.

What bothers me about this article is citizens apparently believing the bs Wynn puts out about HPD being so woefully underpaid. Granted, fire and police deserve to be paid better (right, conveyor belt???) but they are NOT so underpaid compared to other municipalities. Yes, the folks hired in as rookies are marginally below others, but once you get past there, it starts evening out and when you get to the upper ranks, they are paid very well, in comparison. These people ARE NOT leaving due to pay. They ARE NOT leaving due to their racist views. They are leaving because of WYNN. If pay was an issue, the rank and file still employed would be speaking out in support of Wynn's statement. Instead, they are just lining up for any open position that becomes available. I know from experience that the average citizen does not have a real clue as to the reality of the situation. And they (administration) are clearly mounting a concerted PR effort with these appearances, no matter how arrogantly late, at neighborhood meetings, to hoodwink the unsuspecting and usually trusting public.
It seems to me that ward 4 is the last bastion of sanity in the absurdity Hattiesburg has fallen prey to. I would urge each of you in that ward to look VERY carefully at the political ties of potential candidates in this election. Remember that race is not necessarily indicative of the affiliation of those running. There were those who (or at least one) who ran in the last Ward four election who are very big supporters of DuPree. And I am not talking about an African American candidate.

gilgamesh: You are exactly right...I have heard it myself...the sad thing is that some of the more affluent people who have moved to the Burg in the last few years are falling for his Bulls***! I am talking some business owners and people who apparently are retired and have money...I know some who heard his spill and praised him to the end! Trying to convience them otherwise hasn't happened. They are like him and believe that the one in charge is always right and knows best. I have heard some people say..."you just can't please everyone when you are in charge...and they have to realize change is good!" IF they only had a clue...of course these are the very people live in the upper crust neighborhoods and the gangs etc. just havn't gotten there YET so they don't have a clue!

One thing about PD and FD pay. Yes they do need to make more.
Another thing. IF you were ever in the military you know that your starting pay is very low. I mean very low. Military personnel who are not married, or who do not have kids, in essence are making somewhere around poverty level in starting pay. When I started in the AF I made roughly $650 a month. Now granted the military provided me with housing and food. But I would like to see anyone live on that little amount of money. We didn't start out at $25K a year it was more like $12K or so. Yes pay the PD and FD more, but remember all the others who work hard for their country that make even less.

Gilgamesh, I don't think everyone is falling hook, line and sinker for Wynn's reasons the officers are leaving. I know officers that have moved up the career ladder and then go to Petal are taking a cut in pay and also moving into a smaller police department where it may be harder to advance. Or that's what I would think. If I'm not mistaken, didn't one of the officers or more even leave w/o a job? Of course, that one is now working. To me that says it's terrible working conditions. Wynn is just yammering. Ever heard "me doth think thou protests too much"?
Just hang in there and give the public more credit.

"We want to hear their concerns and see what we can do to improve our police department and the services we offer," Wynn said Tuesday afternoon.
So showing up after the meeting Tuesday evening shows how much he wants to hear our concerns.
