I hear that Janet Braswell is leaving the HA affter 30 plus years of employment. The HA catches alot of Heat on myhburg but 99.9 percent of it IMO is not the fault of the reporters. Janet gave alot to this community for 30 years and I'm sad to see her leave. Janet you have done a great job over the years and wish you the best.. Her last day is Friday..

Yes, I heard this a few weeks ago. She's going to work at Pearl River as their PR person.

I know that Chuck Abadie is the PR Director at PRCC's Poplarville campus; will Janet be working with him there or is PRCC adding a PR position to its Hattiesburg campus, now that it has expanded that campuses' offerings to include more academic courses?

I'm not sure Kitty. I just happened to be with a friend a few weeks ago while he was on his cell phone with Janet and he asked her if she was really leaving HA. That's all I know. I would guess she's going to be working with Abadie. Not sure though. If I find out more I'll post later. :smt102

She will be an assistant PR director.. She is not leaving because of pay, race, or a conspiracy to make the editors look bad.. :smt102

I have been interviewed by her several times. She was very professional and has been an asset to Hattiesburg American.

Let's get real. Janet Braswell has been a cheerleaderl for the Hattiesburg Police Department for years. That helped out mightily when her son was involved in the murder of a man in Petal and got a sweetheart plea bargain deal to avoid a long prison term. I never cared for her "reporting". I think she has been a PR person for quite some time now.
