My family and I went to see Monster House today. I had no expectations of this film, other than bracing for attending another 'Doogle'esque movie... Doogle, that movie SUCKED!!!

The first question that comes to mind is, why did they release this movie now? It's set on the 30th and 31st of October and is a Halloween movie, but it's released in July??? Maybe they're getting ready for a Halloween DVD release or something... I just don't know.

The movie looks like a computer animated claymation movie, in a way... it's kinda wierd looking, and the faces of the characters are kind of static, as realistic-looking human faces tend to look in CGI.

The story is about a boy who lives across the street from a mean old man. The kid spys on the man because the man keeps yelling at anyone who steps foot on his property and takes any toy that lands on his property. It doesn't take too long before the story gets setup, the boy has to retrieve a friends toy from the yard and the man comes out and grabs the boy. The man 'dies' and the boy is left looking at the empty house... cue the house from hell that decides to come alive in front of the children and not adults.

Antics ensue, people are 'eaten', things are lost, the kids go to war with waterguns with flashlights taped to them, and all ends well with a terrific explosion.

It wasn't a terrible movie, but is a bit intese for those the movie seems to be geared toward. It's a good kiddie horror show. It has it's funny laugh out loud moments. Definitley a renter, and if you want to take your kids to the movies, and there's nothing else to do, you can take them to this one.
