I see that the black communbity is really starting to get tired of Fairley. If I were Dupree I would tell Fairley to calm down. Once again, this letter says alot.

A terrific letter.

People need to ask our local media why they always contact a certain individual when seeking the viewpoint of the black community, when there are people like David Rankin, Jackson Brown, and Elijah Jones (all of whom have written excellent letters/columns that have appeared in the HA) who could offer comments and probably speak for a large number of citizens.

Sadly, I think what happens is while the media may be seeking the viewpoint of the black community, a certain individual is just seeking the media attention for himself.

I think Mr. Rankin, Mr. Brown, and Mr. Jones are the real new leaders of the black community. They are leading the way for others to come forward and help to eliminate the division that is in our city. And that is exactly what a leader does. Their interest are for the whole community not just their own.

I continue to applaud their courage and their insight to the greater threat we face. The threat of blindly following someone who is out for his own gain.

I hope they continue their efforts to get the opinions of other black leaders out in the main stream. We have always been blessed in this town with good people black and white, who stood for something.

My father was a teacher and when I was a small boy I got to know most of the teachers in the black schools (this was way back). In the summers for extra money my dad would help paint the schools, I would help. So I got to know the teachers. They were all my dads freinds and they were very kind to me. Some of the finest most upstanding citizens I have ever known were among those black teachers. There integrity was solid like a rock. And you could feel it when you stood next to them. Their wisdom was wisdom achieved through hard work and dedication to the betterment of their community. No one was any higher on my list of role models. They were an outstanding example to those they taught and to those they came in contact with, like a small boy helping his dad.

If they were around today. I know they would step forward like Mr. Rankin, Mr. Jones and Mr. Brown. And they would not tolerate what is going on. They worked to hard for there good reputations to let one bad apple mess it up for everyone else.

To you gentlemem who wrote those letters I'm here to say, you do the memory of those teachers proud. And I thank you for it.

it Is About Time Someone In The Black Community Spoke Out Against Rev. Fairley.
maybe This Letter Will Show The Ole Ref That He Ain't As Popular As He Thought.
maybe It Will Show The Rev That He Don't Run s@%t But His Mouth.
i Believe That The Person Who Wrote This Letter Should Be Commended For Having The Balls To Speak Out And Tell It Like It Is.
maybe Mr. Rankin Should Run For Mayor To Put Fairley In His Place More Often
