I am interested in everyones opinion on the 16 year old boy in the news who has cancer. A judge ruled this boy MUST take chemo although he does not want to. His parents were threatened to be arrested if they went along with the boys wishes. He has already been through chemo before and has been refusing this type of treatment again. I feel if you can drive at 16 the law feels you are competent to make smart decisions. You can be charged as an adult if you commit a crime! How could a judge not realize this boy should be able to make this decision on his own? Especially considering he already went through chemo and it still come back? If he dies during chemo I will blame this judge for stepping in on it. The boy and his parents were trying herbal remedies-as the boy wanted to do. Once again the courts are wasting money on something that should not be their jurisdiction. If he was under 16 years old I may be more understanding. What do you think?

Actually, today the judge ruled he does not have to report to the hospital for treatment and has set a date to hear the case. But, I agree, he should not be forced to do something both he and his parents do not want. He is old enough to make an informed decision.

In a nutshell, the herbal remedies will not work. They are attractive to the boy and his family because they lack serious side effects and they sound "natural".

On the other hand, it is also very possible (probable?) that chemotherapy will not cure him since it didn't do so the first time. However, it does have a chance at doing so.

I can't even imagine a physician giving him chemotherapy at this point against both his and his parents wishes. He is 16 years old! What are they going to do? Strap him down in a straight jacket and push it into his veins against his will?

Seems to me he will lose his will if he is being forced to do this. Stress is the last thing a cancer patient needs. I know this from experience! It will speed up the growth of tumors, I witnessed this with my mother.

Just another example of the "goverment knows best" mentality!!!!

I remember when I was 6 yrs. old the Govt. knew best & made me swish a paper cup of flouride solution around in my mouth for 60 sec. every day.
do they still do that?
Does the same Govt. that puts flouride in my water put the rust chips in my water that clog up my shower head?
Who was it that said "The Government that governs best, governs least."?
