No, HA online seems to be working fine.

Hey, aren't you now using the avatar of Old Lady?

On the contrary, I just didn't know if you realized that someone else was already using this avatar. For all I know the wrath of the Old Lady may descend upon you. OTOH, she may just consider it a case of "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery". :)

I'm kinda confused about your posts on her using old lady's avatar and spending a whole day trying to FIND missing posts..

Just for clarification, it only took a few minutes of my time yesterday to discover and curiously ask about the missing posts. I asked a question in the appropriate forum expecting a quick answer. I never did get a definitive answer, but I think that I figured it out. Again, it was a matter of curiosity which I thought would be quickly and easily answered.

I've already explained about the avatar above.

Yea right.. I couldnt imagine any 1069 these days. I think that I will always be a little 1056 but that is okay. I think everybody is - some just hide it a little better.

What has been going on in Hattiesburg? We are coming on the 12th. Em is going to stay with her dad for a week and I get to come and pick her up that weekend.

As far as HA being broke, this is only hearsay, but I was told that if it wasn't for their commercial printing side, they would be out of business cause their ad sales aren't enough to supportthe paper.

I worked at the HA for 6 years. Just left there in June and I may catch some flack for this but I really enjoyed it. I have a lot of respect for most of the people who work there but do agree there were issues.

I wouldnt trade my 6 years there for anything. Every place has issues... The media tends to catch it more than most others. During the hurricane I know that times were tough and the publisher really did everything she could to take care of the employees and the family members - while still trying to publish a paper for the community. She even opened the doors to a competitor paper so they could print.

I have seen the paper grow over the past 6 years and especially since Skippy has been the publisher. It can only get better and I know that everyday they are doing things to make it better.

In saying all of that - there is one thing I would have liked to have seen at the paper and that is more investigative reporting. I did not work in the newsroom though so I dont know all the workings of that. I just know the people and the dedication most of them have and the integrity.

neenytwo, I know a number of people ar the HA & some who have worked there. (including myself & a couple of family members) The HA has some very lazy reporters. I know for a fact that for several storie they have gone down the street To a bar & reported (misquoted) patrons of the bar. In one instance when the patrons said they didn't know what the reporter was asking them about (me & a friend of mine) the next day the HA reported that "Hattiesburg citizens were unaware" yada yada yada. the event they were supposedly reporting on was taking place less than 3 blocks away. Surely a short hike could have gotten them a little more info.
They also poach info off local websites. (I know this because they don't even bother to correct grammar, spelling & punctuation mistakes purposefully put in to catch them.)
