So, god love my Sner, but. *sigh* In my life, since she kicked me out of the house when I was 17 (long story, very complicated, and hard to explain) she’s given me money three…no four times now. That’s four times in 13 years. Last week a check for $100 showed up. Apparently she was [...]

Poor Fuzzis,

I read your recent blog and sympathize. Get toasted on your favorite booze, Ice the toe numb, then get a very small drill bit and bore a hole in the nail using thumb-forefinger twist. Don't use a drill motor.

As for parents: We sometimes make mistakes and lousy choices, eventually reaping the seeds we sow. Th turmoil in you upbringing and the current friction is what makes and keeps you strong. Keep writing, its the best medicine.

Yo friend,
Codgerhawk

PS: You want me to come over with a bottle and dril that toe?

Codgerhawk,

If the Grand-Sner had not already taken care of the toe business, I would certainly take you up on that offer. (well...that and if I weren't some 11 hours away) Grand-Sner got out the clippers and started slowly clipping the nail until she got to the point where it was separated from the nailbed. Not nearly as painful as one would suspect, but then again, those descended from the Fuzz line are quite stoic.

As for the Sner...she walks her path and part of my path is to let her do the things she feels she needs to in order to make up for the things she didn't. It doesn't mean that it is easy, nor does it mean that we will ever have the closeness she wants. It is a bit of cliche in that it is what it is.

In other news, my GrandSner is dying. :smt009 She's lost probably 30 pounds since I saw her at Thanksgiving, and when I took her to dinner, she probably ate a quarter of what she was served. Getting into and out of the car, walking into and out of the diner, and then back to the house just about did her in. She has been to the doctor and they've given her just about every test under the sun, but there's no indication of what the problem may well be. She is only 78.

Since I am not a small engine mechanic and am unable get any of the yard equipment to work, tomorrow I'll be defrosting the deep-freeze for her, picking what peaches haven't cooked on the trees and getting to work on canning them for her. In there will be some heavy-duty house cleaning as she cannot do that to any effective degree. (the yard work needs doing, though, so my friend's father-in-law has agreed to be the GrandSner's "lawn fairy", since I can't quite get it done. God love him, wonder how he raised such an ass of a son)
