I am sorry if someone else has mentioned this, but I don't have time to read past threads for the past few days... but, in my opinion, this seems strange:
This comes from the Hattiesburg City Council agenda for the next meeting. It's public record and anyone can get a copy at City Hall.
Under the routine agenda, item 3,
"Acknowledge receipt of letter from Karlynn Courtney, Chairman of the Hattiesburg Election Commission, determining that the administration of an election by paper ballot will be less expensive than administration of the same election by voting machines, electronic voting systems or optical mark reading equipment, for the special election to be held August, 29, 2006, to fill the unexpired term for Ward 4 Councilman."---
Of course it's cheaper, but it's also a heck of a lot easier to pad votes with paper ballots, in my opinion.
