Well, Doc, first you might get your district numbers right before taking pot shots about a race that might not even happen yet. I think it would be foolish for any candidate, to officially announce anything until when Joey wins this special election on November 7 or November 21 if there's a run-off Joey Fillingane is running for Senate District 41, not 51.
The qualifying deadline was at 5 o'clock today and here are the candidates:
Joey Fillingane (R-Sumrall)
Charlie Dumas (D- Mayor of Prentiss)
Deborah Denard Delgado (D-Hattiesburg City Councilman)
Steve Wade (D -Collins funeral home director)
Speedy Smith (from Jefferson Davis County; ran against Billy Harvey in '03 got 25 percent of the vote, most common attire is overalls)
Vince Thornton (from Collins Mississippi Taxpayers Party candidate against Harvey in '95)
Christopher Jay Aycock (farmer from Collins)
I believe Speedy Smith will take votes away from Dumas and Thornton and Aycock will take votes from Wade. Assuming most of the African American vote (38 percent BVAP) stays with Denard, there will be run-off between Joey and DDD. Joey wins handily in it.
