Well, Doc, first you might get your district numbers right before taking pot shots about a race that might not even happen yet. I think it would be foolish for any candidate, to officially announce anything until when Joey wins this special election on November 7 or November 21 if there's a run-off Joey Fillingane is running for Senate District 41, not 51.

The qualifying deadline was at 5 o'clock today and here are the candidates:

Joey Fillingane (R-Sumrall)
Charlie Dumas (D- Mayor of Prentiss)
Deborah Denard Delgado (D-Hattiesburg City Councilman)
Steve Wade (D -Collins funeral home director)
Speedy Smith (from Jefferson Davis County; ran against Billy Harvey in '03 got 25 percent of the vote, most common attire is overalls)
Vince Thornton (from Collins Mississippi Taxpayers Party candidate against Harvey in '95)
Christopher Jay Aycock (farmer from Collins)

I believe Speedy Smith will take votes away from Dumas and Thornton and Aycock will take votes from Wade. Assuming most of the African American vote (38 percent BVAP) stays with Denard, there will be run-off between Joey and DDD. Joey wins handily in it.

Good heavens, that is a scary thought...DDD in a serious runoff for a major office....althought I am pretty sure Joey would win but I would still be holding my breath until official returns were in! Dead people come to life all the time around here! :)

Hey noway, how about a vBookie on how many days from the annoucement it will be before Dale Beavers announces his intention to run for Fillingane's 101 seat...:smt102

Doc you mean DB hasn't made his intentions known? Maybe I just read too much into his previous comments. I wonder if a viable candidate comes out and really looks like he/she may beat DB will he jump ship then too? Maybe another VBookie. My biggest fear is that there will be no choice in 101.

OGREP, I know of at least 4 other people who are considering the race, and in a very politically active district like 101, I'd be shocked if there were not. The voters will certainly have a lively and spirited race once when/if Joey Fillingane wins his special election.

Don't joke about this. If you've ever met DDD you would understand what a menace she is.

58 WHAT are you talking about? All I said was it is a scary thought to possibly have DDD as a representative...I STAND BY THAT! I HAVE met her, as a matter of fact I worked with her when she was at HPD...she wasn't really there very long but long enuf to let me know she has some serious issues! I really think she is a smart woman...just does and says some really dumbass things!! I think she is a little radical at times. I wasn't joking in my post...I really meant it, IT IS A SCARY THOUGHT!!! God help us all if that were to come to past!
