View Full Version : Is Islam Dying?

Dr Koenraad Elst, one of Belgium’s best orientalists . . . told me last week that he thinks "Islam is in decline, despite its impressive demographic and military surge" – which according to Dr Elst is merely a "last upheaval." He acknowledges, however, that this decline can take some time (at least in terms of the individual human life span) and that it is possible that Islam will succeed in becoming the majority religion in Europe before collapsing.
Further down the article are these words,
Perhaps, as Dr Elst fears, Islam in its stage of decline might, by the mid-21st century, succeed in conquering Europe and becoming the old continent’s dominant religion. In this knowledge one slogan of last Sunday’s Islamic hatemongerers in London may be more than just hate speech: "Islam will conquer Rome" may be prophetic. Here, however, we ourselves are to blame, because Islamists will not find it difficult to conquer Europe. Christianity in Western Europe has virtually ceased to exist. The spirit of secular relativism that originated from the French Enlightenment has persuaded Europe (including Europe’s churches) to commit a protracted, two centuries long suicide, the symptoms of which were visible in Communism, National-Socialism and moral relativism in general.
Man is a religious being and needs religious faith. If European Christianity had still been healthy today it would have proselytized, it would have reached out with missionary zeal to the millions of Muslims who migrated to Western Europe since the 1970s, it would have offered them Christ. Instead, it’s churches became bastions of religious relativism. Europe offered the newcomers only cultural decadence, from which decent people want to shield their children, and spiritual emptiness, which one can only despise.
The Europeans, who lost the missionary zeal to reach out to the immigrants, also lacked the zeal to pass on their own civilization to their offspring. Worse still, they lacked the zeal to have offspring. Since demographics is the mother of all politics, it is, barring a miracle, certain that Islam will become the old continent’s dominant religion.

Is Islam really in decline? If so, will we be able to truly discern it in our lifetime? Will what appears to be happening in Europe eventually also occur in America for similar reasons?

It's all the Christian's fault. Says so in your article.

Actually, what it says is that a viable European Christianity (i.e., one truly Christian in both faith and practice) could have prevented the Islamization of Europe by its message concerning Christ, i.e., the gospel. However, in reality, European Christianity for the most part is no longer truly Christian having become willing victims of higher criticism and secularization. Today most churches of Europe have no gospel to proclaim and are essentially only "bastions of moral relativism". For the past few decades the churches in Europe have been virtually empty, since they really have nothing of substance to offer as they have compromised biblical truth through abandoning the Scriptures as the infallible Word of God. European Christianity has essentially become "Christian" in name only.

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men." -- Matthew 5:13

Jesus in these words is addressing those who are outwardly the people of the living God. And he describes them as being "the salt of the earth". Salt has a peculiar taste and it imparts it to everything with which it is mixed. In addition, salt is a substance that preserves other substances from decay and corruption when it is mingled with them. However, it is useful for these purposes as long as it retains its saltiness, but no longer.

The nominal Christianity of Europe no longer has any saltiness, it is no longer truly Christian, and the result is that European society is decaying and is trodden underfoot by ungodly men and false religion.

Christ and Christ alone is the only true hope for an individual, and He is the only real hope for society. If those who claim to be Christians don’t reflect this in their beliefs and lives, not only they, but also society, will undergo corruption and be sitting ducks to false religion. This is what I think that the author of this article is basically saying, and I think that he is correct.

If you compare what passes for Christianity in Europe to what the Bible says ( See the Gospel of John, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, 2 Corinthians 5:17, and Ephesians 2:8 & 9, 1 Timothy 1:15, 1 Timothy 2:5 just a few passages) then you are right in your orginal statement.

Let's hope so, because I promise you that you don't want what's overseas happening in your backyard.

Maybe if all the Christians out there would start bumpin' uglies we could wipe out the Muslims by out breeding them.
