Turning from Hardy--98 onto Westover Drive I saw a car that said GEEK MOBILE. One driver in a white , brown and orange car. It may have had green.?? Maybe a shrunk volkswagen.

I laughed and looked for any geeks but only one. Anyone else seen it????:smt102 :smt038 :smt086

It wasn't the Best Buy Geek Squad, was it? It's a black Volkswagon with an orange and white logo.

It may have been Astra. I think it was black with the logo but all I saw was Geek Squad. Good fall colors.

Thinking back it was black for that white logo to show up. what does it do?

It was the best buy Geek Squad then. That's the people from Best Buy who come to your house when you call them and say "EEEK, I F-d up my computer, come fix it!"

... as long as you don't own a Mac.

Yeah, Best Buy has the Geek Squad and Circuit City has a new service called Firedog or something like that. The Geek Squad dresses in black pants, white shirts, and skinny ties - think 1960s rocket scientist nerd chic. They kind of pull from the "Men In Black" look, too.

Both are basically tech support - they fix your computers, set up home networks, give lessons in using your digital camera, etc. They help out in-store, too. I know a few guys who worked it and when my newly-bought Tivo required a software patch before I could set it up at home, they parked it on the workbench while it downloaded and I shopped. Handled it very nicely and didn't charge me anything for it either.

I haven't seen the Firedog car here, but the Circuit City in Slidell had it parked out front. It's one of those boxy little Element things all painted up in bright green and blue.
