View Full Version : Forrest county officers and dispatch
I would like to commend Forrest County officers and dispatch for a job well done on Wednesday night. A thought to be kidnapping was reported and the officers and dispatch did a terrific job. Thumbs up to y'all! I was glad it was bogus but sorry that almost 2 hours of taxpayers money was wasted on a prank. My point is job well done by dispatch and officers. Billy has a good crew working for him-keep it up guys.:smt038

Maybe the residents of Hattiesburg should initiate a petition to unincorporate.
Once unincorporated, Billy McGee could take charge.
Actually, they can patrol any part of Forrest County they please, including the part of Hattiesburg and Petal that are in Forrest County and they do , at times. There are more voters in the cities than in the County and they know that. M-D, they have 5 former HPD Officers and many more wanting and waiting for a spot.
If Hattiesburg took the police department budget and gave it to Billy we could have better services without duplication. Then our ploice chief would also be a elected official that would answer to the citizens.

Hattiesburg American article by sid saulters (last Sun. i believe?) concerning police reports and a right to know:
The article stated that Billy McGee had successfully lobbied the legislature to prevent crime reports being made public. This flies in the face of Freedom of Information Act. Why would he not want you to know? How is he prevented from doing his job, exactly? Do you have a right to know? The article also said it could protect political people and others in sensitive positions. My happy __S would be all over the paper if i got arrested today. Note: if my door gets broken down at 2:00am tomorrow and you don't here from me again...
