myself and about 16 members of the Hattiesburg Police Dept. who are currently serving in the military had to file a complaint against Chief Wynn for discriminating against us. I don't think the citizens in the city know that they are giving the officers in the military a hard time about their military obligation. Chief Wynn has made statements to us that we need to figure out who we wanted to work for the city or the military. Well i was doing both before he came and i would like to continue. After the statements of the military personel made it all the way to Washington I got a call from a rep. She wanted to know who David Wynn was and that she had never talked to anyone with his attitude toward military personel. I am currently on active duty and i will continue to volunteer(because the law allows me to)until David Wynn is gone and something is done with his two hinchmen Frank Misenhelter and Hardy Sims who are no doubt hiding in the shadow of their leader.

And Wynn - two households and a motor home on state retirement and a Chief's salary? Oh, but we forget, he is also serving in the military (National Guard), but he doesn't want his poorly paid officers to have the same privilege.

what a relief not being at the hattiesburg police department under DAVID WYNN. DAVID WYNN does not deserve to be wearing a HPD uniform. why don't the mayor sit down and question david wynn about his character as a human being period. the man has no heart nor does he care for others. his son been involved in several unlawful incidents and has yet appeared in a courtroom. his daughter get arrested for shoplifting and they hold court out of the courtroom to find some flaw in the law. why not ask david wynn about his city vehicle being repaired at ODOMS body shop due to damange his son supposely done while the citizen chief of police was out of town. HEY WYNN under your regime a police officer is guilty until proven innocent, why don't you submit to a polygraph? are you afraid you might get ask the wrong question. maybe people need to know about some of your extracurricular activity, stay tuned David the best is yet to come

You know I always thought Wynn had six legs I guess two were Sims and the other two were Frank those two look as if the chief sat on them.

The current administration has done nothing but handed out upper echelon jobs to the congregation of Mt Carmel church i.e.: CAO Beverly Commodore, Parks and Rec Dir. Clemon Terrell, Police Chief David Wynn,(Title Unknown) Mark Jordan, as well as people in lower ranking jobs throughout the city.

as my 3 year old daughter would call them....

carsalesguy, I don't know where you got the information you listed but for those who may not believe it...I can vouch that this is happening.
I have talked to numerous guys who are on military duty and they have told me basically the same thing....apparently Wynn is hot under the collar because they are serving their county....and giving them all a hard time. I had them tell me they were gonna file a law-suit against him...I am not for sure if they did or not...I know when I attended a recent meeting for neighborhood assoc. presidents at Chesterfields he made snide remarks several times towards the guys who were in the military....bad mouthed them pretty good. I was shocked to say the least...my vice-president kept kicking me under the table because she knew I was getting pissed!

You know it has to be bad for guys to sign-up to go to Iraq or Afganhastan rather than work at the p.d.
I was recently told that Wynn was no longer in the guard...don't know if that is true but it did come from a good source.

Wynn should be told to GET OUT OF TOWN, we sure don't need you here. Also I have heard that his Wife who is the Principal at N.R.Burger School, is just as bad as he is. Does not like the White teacher's in her school. and is not liked very much at all. Maybe when he gets fired they will both leave town.

The National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives?

I thought as an integrated society we had progressed to the point where racially specific organizations were frowned upon.

There'd be an uproar if there was a national organization of white law enforcement executives.

While HPD continues to implode, how many trips for "planning meetings" will Wynn be making to south Florida between now and the "Magnificent 31st" conference?

That was the part I thought was funniest, the "magnificent" adjective. It's like his vocabulary is so small that was the only thing he could think of.

And he CAPITALIZED it!!! All the random capitalization... did his finger slip and hit the shift key while he was typing?

Just think what the rough draft looked like. That was probably proof-read or written by his wife, a principal. Oh, geez...

Has anyone delved into this further into this NOBLE website?
I did & found it full of big words & verbose statements carrying little or no meaning, yet with a thinly veiled &, to me, offesive message.
Esp. check out what their "training" is all about.

How the Hell did Wynn get to be VP of this organization? He demonstrates none of the principals they promote

Assessment centers are used for a variety of promotions including selections for detectives, supervisors, managers and executives. NOBLE prepares individuals to be successful in this method by training candidates to demonstrate the skills and abilities needed in the position being tested for. Some common exercises are:

* In Basket (Prioritizing paperwork)
* Group Discussion / Leaderless Group
* Role Play / Employee Counseling Session
* Oral Presentation
* Written Exercises

Okay, maybe one.... seems like the entire organization is revolving around getting Blacks promoted, and community policing. If I'm wrong, forgive me, but didn't Wynn get hattiesburg AWAY from community policing?

This IS NOT meant to be racial BUT I wonder if they would turn down a white chief IF he applied for membership? It would be interesting to see someone apply just for the hell of it! :)

About NOBLE

NOBLE MISSION STATEMENT

To ensure equity in the administration of justice in the provision of public service to all communities, and to serve as the conscience of law enforcement by being committed to justice by action.
VISION STATEMENT

The goal of NOBLE is to be recognized as a highly competent, public service organization that is at the forefront of providing solutions to law enforcement issues and concerns, as well as to the ever-changing needs of our communities.
OBJECTIVES

The objectives that are employed to implement the goal of the organization include:

An emphasis on being a competent learning organization that continuously learns from the collective knowledge of its members, and other sources of criminal justice research and data, while simultaneously working to rapidly convert this learning into action;
Working to ensure long-term organizational stability by identifying and establishing mutually beneficial relationships with corporations and other funding sources;
Recommending and executing policies, processes and procedures that recognize and pursue goals common to all segments of the community and law enforcement, with a focus on ensuring strict accountability and uncompromising integrity;
Promoting and encouraging attitudes and characteristics that permit adaptability to the changing demands placed on law enforcement, and the development of professional and communication competencies that help view, comprehend and shape appropriate responses to an ever-changing environment; and
Increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of NOBLE through a clearly defined and shared sense of purpose and commitment among its members. The NOBLE Purpose

To unify Black Law Enforcement Officers at executive and command levels;
To conduct research in relevant areas of law enforcement;
To establish linkages and liaisons with organizations of similar concern;
To evaluate and recommend legislation relating to the criminal justice process;
To establish effective means and strategies for dealing with racism in the field of criminal justice;
To develop communication techniques for sensitizing police executives, police officers, institutions and agencies in the criminal justice system to the problems of the black community;
To develop mechanisms that will facilitate the exchange of information among black police executives;
To articulate the concerns of Black Executives in law enforcement. GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Respect: Law enforcement must be respectful of the rights of all persons.
Uncompromising integrity: NOBLE will conduct its business according to ethical standards of law enforcement.
Courage of convictions: NOBLE will be proactive in addressing issues of controversial law-enforcement policies and practices.
Accountability: NOBLE promotes the principle of mutual accountability between the criminal justice system and the community.
Community: The community must be an integral part of the criminal justice system, with particular attention being given to criminal justice issues that affect the African American community.
Value Diversity: NOBLE promotes the value of diversity at all levels throughout the criminal justice system.
Mentoring: NOBLE members are committed to mentoring as a way of life.
Hey, all this is great. I really don't mind if blacks feel they need an organization to help them get a head start in areas that they feel they've been shut out of. But organizations like this also have to remember that there is a basic job function to perform in all of this, and all the feel-good stuff that they're preaching has to be secondary to performing their actual job. I think they get too caught up in the "how to deal with centuries of racism" thing too much and forget that they should also have to perform a job in manner that is acceptable to everyone.

An in-basket exercise is a common part of an assessment center. You are given a bunch of papers which you must categorize within a set time frame. Usually you set some aside as Gather more info/phone call, Set up meeting, File, No action, Delegate to so-and-so. My favorite category, Too Hard, is frowned upon in these exercises...

The idea is to see if you can manage the day to day office stuff that always comes in or if you are going to get tied up in the nit-picky details and forget the big picture.

A commander who spends 4 hours a day dealing with paper that came in his in box isn't going to be very effective. One who ignores things in his inbox that need attention also isn't going to be very effective. A certain balance, as in life, is what works best.

Well it is very apparent that Chief Wynn can't be effective or balance his way out of a wet paper bag!

He certainly has forgot the big picture...THE SAFETY OF THE CITIZENS OF THE 'BURG!!!!!

I'd like to see someone with money challenge all organizations have the word black in them. The ACLU has the money to do it. Why do you 'spose they go after the boy scouts, school prayer, manger scenes, et. al. instead?
