Be sure go by Main Street Books and Coney Island Sandwich Shop to check the status of in-progress building murals.

Also the Meistersingers will be doing mini concerts at the Saenger Theater. Performance times are 5:45, 6:15, and 7:15. And QM, I agree. A Gallery is always a "must see" spot.

Lots of other stuff going on including a number of street music venues.

Many thanks to so many of you who came by to say hi and share with us in our excitement about the first edition. We appreciate your interest. I hope you all enjoyed the Downtown Art Walk tonight - we certainly did. :)

Y'all must've packed up early, I didn't see you there about 7. :smt102

What a fantastic afternoon and evening!!!! The turnout was spectacular - and the reception to our new magazine was overwhelming. We toasted the official launching of the publication and then enjoyed visiting with SOOOOOOO many people (hundreds and hundreds!!!!).

Came away with good story ideas we'll be checking into for future publications, and lots of business cards in my pocket for possible free-lance writers and photographers.

Yep, the crowd was already building when we hit the corner of Main and Front Streets a little after 5:00 p.m. Lots of folks out and about downtown.

During the time we were at A Gallery, you magazine folks were really getting some attention. When I was up on the second level overlooking the main gallery floor, I had an overpowering urge to lean over the balcony and yell, "Is there a Queen Mother in the house" ... but resisted. :smt118

Glad you had a good response. :smt038

oh, and my daughter/gf and i were actually able to see the sanger...i haven't been in there since i was much younger, and actually found it quite impressive....daughter called it a "church" cuz of the organ and the high ceilings (we go to sacred heart).......

And Paul Lee did a great job putting the organ through its paces. It's a very unique instrument.

I was also very impressed with the murals being painted on the outside walls of Main Street Books, Coney Island, and the under consturction/restoration Bianchi's Pizzeria.

I went Bar/Restaurant hopping. Had a blast. Saw lots of friends I've been out of touch with. Finally tried the Brownstone. Food & service were good & the bartender was able to make a straight up gin martini with one olive without having to be told how.
The waitresses did seem to be wearing about a pint of eye make-up apeice though.

I was able to go too! I met a buch of my friends who have kids and we all went together- we went to see Willie King between the New Yokel and the Book store- this was around 530- he was great and it was wonderful seeing all the kids running, dancing and playing in front of him while a crowd of adults enjoyed the outside, some drinks, and the wonderful weather we had. I only got to walk around a little beucase of Sacred Heart's Fall Fling/ Drawdown, but it was a wonderfuly nice afternoon. I wish that Sacred Heart had not scheduled Fall Fling for the same day.

Well, all I can say is WOW! I will definitely be attending the next one. Not working downtown anymore, I don't make it to that side of town much. So much has changed and so many neat little shops. My first time to visit the A Gallery. Spectacular.

Monkey it was great seeing you again and QM, nice to finally meet you!!! :smt038

Excellent editorial in today's Hattiesburg American about the Fall Art Walk.

The combination of friendly faces and the cooperation of Mother Nature made the evening one of the best attended art walks in recent years, according to several merchants and artists. People dipped in and out of the galleries, downtown restaurants were full most of the night and the street musicians who played offered an eclectic mix of sound for those who needed to dance a little.

I can attest it was wonderful. I would have stayed longer myself had I not been alone. I left at dusk as I did not want to be out after dark and I had a date with my husband...:)
