I was just finishing buying my kids winter clothes online and decided to see if they had any jeans on sale at Penneys for me. Went to start looking but the models used had to be a size 0!!!! I'm by no means a BIG girl, but I couldn't even see myself realistically in any of the jeans. Anyone else feel my pain??? Guess no online shopping for me - ug -- it's getting too crowded to go to the mall anymore. Not to mention I don't have time with school (19 more months!!!):(

ebay is GREAT ... but, if you go the ebay route ... make sure you get NWT (new with tags) ... or you're liable to get some hand me down / garage sale items ... for "new" prices. :(

ACE'sMom, I have bought several broomstick skirts on eBay. They are good quality & alot cheaper than the department stores! You can find some nice things on eBay. :):)

I've bought some things that way as well. Always go with NWT.
The mannequins in the Charlotte Russe window in the mall make me want to throw things.
That said, I've noticed retailers tend to use their smallest sizes for display. Based on seeing what sells, I wonder if this is because the population of size 0s is so small that what's on the mannequin is usually the least likely to sell - putting average sizes out would make clerks have to take the clothes off the mannequin to sell more often, I would think.

We went winter clothes shopping for our 4 year old. I'm sorry, but I cannot pay $15, $25, $45 for a pair of jeans that he's going to outgrow in 6 months. Seriously, $45 for a pair of jeans for a 4 year old? Or $45 for a shirt for this age? WTF are people thinking??? I don't know what's with me and spending $$$ on clothes for him... it's just ridiculous the amount you pay for the usage you get.

and with body parts that are more realistic -- nothing like buying a shirt that hung right on the mannequin only to find that you don't fill it out quite the same...
Queen Mother; With the fashion industry going to more normal-sized models for their runway shows, I wonder if the stores will soon follow with normal-sized mannequins. Someone needs to design petite clothes that aren't PETITE tiny but PETITE larger!!!
--and my quote messed up -- lol -- heh heh -- and I gave shots today!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, what is considered a "normal" size? If you go into a store geared towards juniors, or petites, or larger women, the average sizes aren't going to be the same. Heck, "normal" could vary between regions, depending on differences in the populations.

I haven't ever bought clothing online. I go to stores... my problem is trying things on in stores. I have to try something on before I buy it. However, once I get it on, I can usually find something that I don't like about it. Therefore, not buying it. I can go shopping for an entire day and come home with nothing. It always looks better on the mannequin! Becomes very frustrating!

There's nothing wrong with that CB. Now, unless you had family with another young man that you could hand them down to, I think it's ridiculous to pay alot of $$$ for something they're going to out grow in 3-6 months or better yet, something they're just as likely to stain and then it become "play clothes" before they have the chance to outgrow it.

Gotta both agree and disagree with this citygirl ... I have two girls now and the third due literally any day ... and I thought a few months ago that this would be good for the clothing funds ... until it dawned on me that my oldest was a lot thicker then, than the baby is now and by the way the ultra sounds are reading, the newest baby is going to out weigh both of the older ones ... so there goes all the expensive premie sized clothes that I had from the little ones ... (LoL ... and no, they weren't premies :) ... I'm little bitty and so are my babies, generally anyways ... ) ... and new stuff is going to have to be bought. To bad this is my last one ... Guess I'll have to garage sell myself in a few months ... :smt102
I agree in the sense that ... if it's going to hurt my feelings or bank account when the clothes get messed up, chances are they are still hanging on their hangers at the store. It really is rediculous to pay more for their clothes than I do my own ... it's HALF the material and time put into them!!

Online clothing shopping is definitely behind the curve, but I'm not sure that's not because no one really wants to shop for clothes online anyway. Most people like to see how it fits, and have a quick way to return it.

And they are French!! My son buys nothing but Lacoste and I raise cane at him. No better than Polo and the Coward of France gets nada. We have a Michelin tire mfging plant here in Greenville but I buy Goodyear,or Dunlop tires. Calif. wines too. American cheese. Nothing French. I won't bring the nation of France to it's knees but it makes me feel good.

What four year old cares? Consignment shops, Goodwill, Jr. League, places like that have dynamite deals. Good looking stuff, expensive stuff for a song. CB's right. Doesn't matter if you can or can't afford $45 for a pair of jeans or shirt for a preschooler, people should have their heads examined for spending that on them. The parent is the only one who' ego is stroked. The kid just wants to go home so he can play.
