And it wasn't even a powerhouse team that beat them.
They got beat by Laurel who lost to Collins earlier in the year.

This weekend was a really weird football weekend to me. Auburn, Georgia, FSU, Petal, along with several others I can't think of, all went down.

I know this is off the topic, but what the heck has happened to LSU quarterback Russell. He looked horrible against Florida.

Playing between the bricks is a rough place to play and noisy!For some reason Petal just can't stop Laurel period.Petal really should try and run the ball more.I didn't see this game but the rest is one dimensional,pass,pass,pass.Go Panthers on to next week.

1. Petal had plenty more fans than Laurel did so the whole fan thing didn't account for anything

2. Petal's starting RB was out and the 2nd string RB fumbled it two times in the first two drives...Would you want to run the ball after that when you have such a great combo like Farris and Duncan?

3. Laurel's RB was the half-brother of Washington Redskin's RB Clinton Portis. It runs in his family.

Terril, don't forget about the Little Brown Jug! Laurel is 2-0 for Hattiesburg area schools this season!

I really like the new coach. Buddy Duke was a great guy, and I wish him very well, but I like the new guy too. He lives down the road from me and is always very nice.

I also think the death of Laurel's assistant coach has given them a boost of team pride and emotion.
