It occured to me while on another thread, that folks like to talk about tv shows they liked when they were kids.
So, heres a thread for the discussion of our favorite idiot box fodder.

My personal favorite TV moment was on the Beverly Hillbillies.
Irene Ryan (Granny) was a huge Johw Wayne fan & she found out that he was on the lot doing some technical advice.
Irene had been mooning around the set all day talking about how wonderful John W. was. A crew member bumped into Mr. Wayne & asked if he would drop by the set. At one point in the script they added a line for Granny.
She said, "Duke, where are ya when we need ya?"
Wayne stepped out & said, "Right here Granny."
Irene dropped her broom & stood slack jawed staring at the Duke.
It wasn't acting it was her natural reaction.
John was wearing A houndstooth jacket & matching cap with a feather in it. He was about three feet taller than the diminutive Ryan.
A great TV moment.

My wife and I still watch more old sitcoms than current stuff.

All in the Family
Becker
Married with Children
Sanford and Son
Golden Girls
MASH

Plus, I can't pass up any western made in the 50's.

Me either, Hawk. Remember Combat? Have Gun Will Travel? Sugarfoot? Maverick? Wagon Train? Bounty Hunter (I think that was the name. He was Josh Randle)? Gunsmoke with Chester the stiff-legged dude.

I'm just now enjoying Becker. Never watched the originals. Now I'm falling out of my chair laughing at it.

I partially agree.
The Andy Griffith Show was great, but my vote for the Best has to go to the Bevery Hillbillies.

Did you know that Ellie Mae had sex with Elvis?
She thought they were going to get married, but he dumped her when their film wrapped.
Do you know what the character Granny's real name was?

The channel formerly called PAX (now it's called i) has a pretty good lineup of old TV shows.

Charlie's Angels airs each weeknight at 8:00. Tonight's episode is the one where Farrah Fawcett-Majors (that was her name then) goes undercover and joins the roller derby.

Last Saturday night they had a Monkees Marathon. I loved the Monkees!

Apparently the channel features marathons on Saturday nights. This Saturday the featured show will be Welcome Back, Kotter and next Saturday it will be The Partridge Family. I loved The Partridge Family, too!

Here is a link (http://www.ionline.tv/) to i online.

I read yesterday that Farrah Fawcett has a form of cancer that involves a fast-growing tumor. She is beginning very aggresive treatment and believes in a positive attitude to get her through this. She apparently believes getting bombed out of her gourd will help, too. :smt102

I read that it is a form of intestinal cancer. Apparently she has already had surgery and is beginning chemotherapy.

In the movie Beverly Hillbillies Granny was Daisy Moses, true.
But, in the first season of the Hillbillies she was Daisy Mae Clampett (Jed's mother) and Jed refered to her as "Maw" Later in the series she was changed to Jed's mother in law & he began refering to her as "Granny".
I don't remember hearing her refered to as Moses in the series, but I'm just working off memory here so I could have missed it.

Does anyone remember a show called "Dusty's Trail" a spin off of Gilligan's Island starring the same cast.
It was a wagon train lost on the way to California.
Gilligan was Dusty
The Skipper was Boss
Mr. & Mrs Howell were rich people
Ginger was a saloon girl
Mary Ann was pretty much Mary Ann
and the Professor was Doc
There were only a couple of episodes & they canseled it.

How about "Manimal" the private detective that could turn into a critter at will?

And Has anyone mentioned "Happy Days" ?
That was cultural icon until it "jumped the shark"

I think Edith's death was the point where All In The Family jumped the shark.
The show went steeply down hill after that.
My favorite episode was the one where Archie & Michael were trapped in the basement & had a long talk. they slept under an old awning & Archie told the story about being nick-names Shoe-bootie when he was a kid.

As far as sat. mornings go, Those guys were all tokin' heavy.

Did you ever notice how similar it was to the Odessy?
Odessius traveling from island to island meeting strange creatures & having adventures.
Kirk traveling from planet to planet meeting strange creatures & having adventures. The plot lines weere even similar. I always imagined a future where a female military uniform would consist of go-go boots & a miniskirt.

It was the Danny Thomas show and Andy was a lot more like his character in No Time For Seargants, but he was funny and really good. It sparked the show.
