Shootings are still happening in town...I am surprised someone hasn't been killed yet again.
:smt102 When is all the insanity going to end? These people must not realize that bb/air guns can be as lethel as any other gun....

geez...................where's the cops or the parents to take care of these idiots
It would be bad enough if it was a teenager, but a 30-35 year old?

Hattiespatch is going to hell on rollerskates & the administration hasn't done anything but light the disco ball & turn up the BeeGees.
A friend of mine lost his hand to a BB gun wound.

I am curious to see if the charge will remain aggravated assault...it would not surprise me one bit for them to bust it down to a misdemeanor charge!
Speaking of charges...wonder what ever happened with the Bobby Rawls case? They havn't done a thing as far as I have heard...probably won't either!

Shot MULTIPLE times. I guess she couldn't take cover fast enough. That, or it was a semi-automatic BB gun. What will happen next?

Hope they're playing "Staying Alive."
CSG, how would the cops have prevented this from happening?

IGID I see your point about "how could the cops have prevented this from happening" I know shit is gonna happen and the officers can't be everywhere...
The point is IF there were enuf officers to actively patrol the streets and IF they had a place to put the thugs, the thugs MIGHT think twice before doing such stupid stuff. THEY KNOW they can get away with it and in all likely hood they WILL NOT BE CAUGHT and IF they are probably NOTHING will happen to them!
IF I were a thief I would have to think twice about robbing somewhere that had cameras and security out the gazoo...I think I would target the places that were wide-ass open.

I heard about a city that didn't have enough officers, so they parked patrol cars at various locations with Maniquins dressed as officers inside.
Maybe the HPD could try that.

Maybe the HPD could try that.Good idea, but I think they should get a mannequin and dress it up as Wynn and sit it in a chair, then tell Wynn to take a hike because the mannequin is doing a better job. And eating less donuts.
All the cops in the world can't stop someone from committing a aggravated assault if they want to do it. I doubt very seriously that this idiot thought about the lack of police before he decided to shoot a child with a BB gun.
Now on the other hand, he might have thought my mayors black and I'll do what I want before shooting her. I think the stance this administration has taken on crime and the pro-active response from the police they have taken away has more to do with the crime rate than the number of police on the streets.

IGID I do see what you are saying and agree BUT I also think that being "seen in neighborhoods" could also be considered as being "proactive." Maybe not so in the sense you are talking about but still....patrolling problem areas still help deter some crimes..reckon we will have to agree to "disagree" on some of our points..I do appreciate your take on things though.

Dave, wouldn't that be nice...it is sad however they can't even keep tabs on high caliber guns, little alone bb guns... I enjoyed the laugh though! It lightened my day! :) lol

They used to make these felt "Cleaning" pellets. We'd soak 'em in motor oil so you could see where you hit somebody.
MD, I agree totally. The first tier in the use of force is Officer presence.

Yep Hawk, that was a sight for sore eyes...I can remember you and Sealy BOTH jumping around like you had bees in your drawers when Momma Hazel got a hold on the two of you....she beat his butt too! :smt038

Picayune P.D. used to do that with maniquins...they would put them in an area that was having speeder problems and it would take care of the situation for a while...of course they would go by and move the car up or down the road on occassion...people were never really sure if it was an officer or the dummy sitting in the car...
More than once I had people tell me they really couldn't tell the difference one way or the other...being smart asses they were! :)
