When is/was Hub Fest? It seems I always find out when things happen AFTER the fact!

HubFest and Olde Time Festival were combined into one festival that was more of a "heritage" festival.

I was unable to attend the "new" festival, so I don't know how well it was received.

I think it was a stupid idea to change it, too.

I appreciated the change because with combined strength they were able to have a large music stage with high-end performers plus Grupo Fantasma, a Hattiesburg favorite. There was quite a turnout, with more student attendance than usual.
This year the event will be on March 31, I'm pretty sure.

Yes, March 31 is the correct and Charlie Pride will perform at the Saenger Theater that evening as part of both the festival and the Southern Miss Symphony season.

I agree that the change was a good one. Both Hub Fest and Old Time Festival had become pretty routine with journeyman booths and journeyman food stalls, and mediocre entertainment. In my view, the combined festival kicked things up a notch or two. Not everyone agrees. :)

The planning is under way for the South Mississippi Arts and Heritage Festival. The chair of the Festival Committee this year is Robert St. John. I have not heard his ideas yet. Last year I was on this committee and will be again this year. I enjoyed it and think that the festival was better than the seperate festivals. It was the first year, and for the first year of a festival it turned out great! I disagree with how some of the stuff is handled, but that is why there is a committee. I expect great things for this year's festival.

If I hear of anything good, I will let you all know.

I will always miss both events being seperated. I have shirts from both from numerous years back. I HATE change! GRRRRRRHHHHHH!
