trust me, the people who've been commiting these crimes knowing they'd get a slap on the wrist are now well aware that they'll get more now. They were talking about this at work the other day, and the word has been out for a few days now that the sh!t has to stop or you'll be sitting it out for a while. That's coming from the community that sees little wrong with committing these crimes.

It will certainly be interesting to see just how many are arrested...I really don't hold my breath though..the thing is most of the time they have to get caught doing a crime before they can be arrested...and we all know their chances of getting caught is almost slim to none considering how many officers that are actully on patrol. The officer numbers must be down more than they are admitting if the admin is using firemen to patrol city hall. What do they expect the firemen to do if they catch someone, hose them down? IF I were a firemen and saw someone trying to breakin or either coming out of c.h., I would be very wary of trying to stop them...having no weapon, how would they fend for their safety against a criminal who most likely is armed? Doesn't make sense to me.

I would bet there will be a lot of arrests. They will fil it up with traffic violators and dui and so forth so the numbers look good and they wont have room left for the ones that are protected.

i took some ciggs. to my cousin there once,he was working off a fine.It was filled with gomer pyle types,sidewalk spiters,speeders,litter bugs,guys who were way too slow to get jobs to pay there child support,old guys that did some little something on purpose to get a free meal.if i had hollered the word GANG!in that place,those guys would have run out of there like scalded ass apes.
i hope they will use it for at least a couple of real criminals this time.

I heard on the scanner the NET/ATF Team filled it up and they couldn't take anymore inmates... Another section should be open in a few days and I heard that it will hold 75 when its completed..

EXACTLY carsalesguy..they are trying to make themselves look good to take off some of the heat before the council meeting...they probably figure there will be a mess load of folks there to bitch and gripe about all the shit that is going on in and around town...I HOPE they are right...so please everyone, please try and show up...Monday, Oct.. 16th, 4 p.m., this is a work session but you can speak after they go over the items at hand.,..if you can't go Monday, maybe you could be there on Tue. the 17th..That meeting starts at 5..HOPE TO SEE YOU AT ONE OR THE OTHER!

A former council member told me it would be a good idea if a group of concerned citizens would attend BOTH meetings. On Monday, take notes...really good notes so that on Tuesday you would be able to ask questions and/or voice concerns about what was said. Not that you can only talk about what was discussed in the Monday night meeting, but that you would have notes to be able to quote who said what. Also, he told me that an agenda is available from the council clerk before the Monday night meeting and if one is not readily available, ask for one. I am planning to attend both. For those of us who don't know the other members of MH we need to devise a way to recognize each other... Some of you I know, some I don't. I just thought it would be nice to meet and make friends since we all plan on being there. Anybody got any ideas? Do we need to pm each to stay annonomus?

I am usually a critic, but I will defend the administration now in regards to the comment of just filling it up to look good. The work center has long been needed, and it could easily be filled up several times over. I commend Forrest County and the city for gwtting it back open. Some attitudes should change on the streets now.

Attitudes should change but I doubt they will...the thugs still know there are to few officers on the street...the likelyhood of getting caught is still slim! I hate to be a pessimist but that is reality unfortunately. We can all pray it works out.
