It is a rarity that I have heard of the Forrest County Supervisors giving money to the city for street repairs..if they have it doesn't usually hit the news media. It is nice to see they are contributing...after all the people within the city limits DOES pay county taxes. :smt038

That is really nothing new. They have been giving money to the city from the road and bridge budget for some time. It just usually isn't publicized. If I remember correctly, the BOS is heading into election season next year. :smt102

I find it funny that David Allen's name is all over everything he does. Like he wants people to make sure that it's him...even if it's just a trash can.

Its all about election year.. (2007) so your county roads and things will get in high gear the next few months to get the votes.. Haven't done crap since 203 so its time..

Election year is another reason why Forrest & Lamar county will not help or have deputies offering to work part time at HPD..

Noway you hit the nail on the head...I forgot it would soon be election time for the b.o.s. THAT EXPLAINS IT! Well, anyway, it is nice it is getting done now...I reckon better late than never!

I reckon they wait to just before election time so the projects are fresh in the voters minds...

I'd rather live and work under the Board of Supervisors than the city council.

I wonder if the Board of Supervisors would be willing to give money for the city lighting plan (http://www.hattiesburgamerican.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061016/OPINION03/610160329/1014/OPINION).

GOOD IDEA Kitty! We desperately need lights on the main highways in and out of town!

I think it is OK for public officials to put their name on a sign letting the public know who is responsible for the work.

Isn't it really the tax payers that are paying for these projects?

And isn't it really the entire board of supervisors approving of the projects?

Forrest County is what is called a UNIT County. No supervisor is in control of a district or beat. They have a road manager in charge of the roads.
