The game between the Warriors and the Tigers is this Friday night at Warrior Field.
Who do you think will win???

Hattiesburg has shown some improvement over the past few weeks, including its decisive victory over Wingfield, but this is still the team that was dominated at home by Meridian, a team Oak Grove beat by three touchdowns.
I predict an Oak Grove victory by at least three touchdowns.

I think OG will win. But I am confused about something. Didn't Hattiesburg play Laurel? Then petal played Laurel. How come petal does not play OG :smt102

Hattiesburg played Laurel.
Petal played Laurel.
Following your logic, shouldn't the question be "how come Hattiesburg does not play Petal?"

They'd have to play in MM Roberts! I do believe the Fan's would not be able to get in either teams stadium and the game would be close for sure.

If Petal's enrollment pushes it back to a 5A level, which I believe it will next season, Oak Grove, Hattiesburg and Petal will be playing each other again. Oak Grove and HHS's game at Oak Grove two years ago produced a packed house, but there wasn't a shortage of seats from what I could see. Thus, I wouldn't expect anything different with a Petal game. I personally prefer keeping the game on campus, rather than playing a stadium that'd be 3/4 empty.

NOWAY Oak Grove by -9. Hub PHS has a lot more fan suport than it did a couple years ago.Plus it might be a kick for the kids to play where the big boys do.

Last year Oak Grove won 48-7 at HHS. I'm not sure talent wise there is a great deal of difference between the two teams. Oak Grove beat a good Clinton team at home last year, and lost to a better one at Clinton this year. During the regular season, they beat their toughest division opponent Meridian at home, and beat a weaker Meridian team (two great running backs graduated to Ole Miss and have a new coach) on the road this year. Hattiesburg has more regular season losses coming into this game (4) that they did all of last year in the regular season (3 - including the OG loss).
I think this will be another decisive Oak Grove victory, in spite of Kelly Sanner's buildup of this game, during the 4th quarter.

(Just teasing, just teasing! Not often we get to celebrate our seasonal victories!)

I've thought for a while that the Oak Grove/Hattiesburg/Petal games should be played at USM. If, for no other reason, than to provide a neutral field in which to play. The visitor stands are nowhere near the size of the home sides, and since the schools are within 10 miles of one another, getting people to the game is not an issue. If anything, people are discouraged from going because of the crowds. If people knew that there wouldn't be a crowd, more people would show.
I'm sure I'm just wispering in the wind on this one, tough... but once Petal comes up to 5A, they should create a tri-city tophy to get some good rivalries going stonger. (yes, I know OG isn't a city... but I didn't know what to call it)

Several people in the loop think that the MHSAA will split Hburg, OG, and Petal and not place all three of them in the same conference. Likely OG will move south and Petal Hburg will remain in the Jackson area.
As far as Friday, OG by at least two touchdowns. OG has some depth especially on offense. And I've heard from a friend of mine on LCSO that the security will be tight. Especially after the recent incidents at OG involving HHS current/former students.

I have heard the same thing regarding the next reclassification. I wouldn't be surprised to see Oak Grove in a region with the coastal 5-A schools and Petal, if they move back to 5-A, in a region with Meridian and Wayne County, if they too move back to 5-A.
It should be noted that Brandon High and Northwest Rankin are in two different regions in the current classification, and I would compare those schools to Oak Grove and Hattiesburg High in terms of proximity.
Hattiesburg High, IMO, could go either way in terms of its 5-A region. I think it will depend on whether Picayune moves back to 5-A and how many of the coastal schools drop out of 5-A. I have heard that Moss Point likely will drop down to 4-A.
We can all speculate, but unless the MHSAA decides to expand 5-A, the class will consist of the largest 32 schools. DeSoto County alone could have four schools in 5-A.
And I've heard from a friend of mine on LCSO that the security will be tight. Especially after the recent incidents at OG involving HHS current/former students.
If there is any way for the pole lights in the front of OGHS to be turned on and left on during the game, it would make those of us who park in that vicinity feel safer. The lights seem to be very dim.
If that's not possible, then perhaps the LCSO can have officers in that area. My daughter and I parked in that area for the Homecoming game, and when we walked to the car to leave, it was pretty dark in the parking area in front of the school. I actually don't think the pole lights were on. There were a number of teens just hanging around in the area, and I would not have felt safe alone.

Not necessarily, it is possible one of three teams could be moved to another division.
There was an article in the HA last week that addressed that very possibility. It doesn't make sense to me why they would separate the three teams, because the travel expense would be reduced and money generated would stay in the Pinebelt.

They did have beefed up security! I was able to let my son go "hang" with his friends and not worry. Thanks Lamar County - sheriff and school for a great job!
And I really enjoyed watching both the bands. The Hattiesburg High director has done a great job with the handful of bandmembers. They both looked great and sounded great! --as a former band geek that's my favorite part of high school football --
