Yeah, after my accidentally brilliant move of making a thermos of coffee before Katrina took out the power (thereby having hot coffee on Tuesday morning) I usually make a thermos when there's any chance of the power going out. It's silly -- I have Sterno, and a French press coffee maker so I could make coffee without power.

In this little apartment...absolutely! I have candles everywhere too...but I just get nervous when I'm without company in this kind of weather at night. When I was in high school and my parents were working at the casino...sometimes on weekends my sister and brother would be spending the night with friends...the weather would get bad and I'd have a heart attack! There were candles in every room...even the rooms I wasn't in...my mind plays tricks on me with the dark. I started watching horror movies.........way too early in life!!! lol

Stayed up a long time, then kitties woke me up early. Breakfast does not wait on storms! However, we were able to take a serious Power Nap while ago. One of the guys is majorly afraid of thunder. Enjoying a quiet stay at home day, reading a SF novel called Polaris by Jack McDevitt, first SF I've read in a long time.

Hermione, I thought that when I first heard the report, but I think they were referring more to the destruction because it was ravished so, but as you mentioned, they didn't have the ruin of what little that was left like the coast did.

People make fun of me for being afraid of storms, but it stems from tornadoes. Being in the middle of one is terrifying, and the destruction is awesome in a horrible way. I guess it's been four years? now since tornadoes swept through southwest MO, and you can still see the just utter devastation in the land. Houses that are still gone, industries that haven't come back.

It's awful in a different sort of way.
