Hattiesburg -- The Business Assistance Center of the University of Southern Mississippi will sponsor a two-part QuickBooks® Training Seminar on Monday, Oct. 16, and Monday Oct. 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harper-Wallin Family Education Center, located at 516 Forrest Street in Hattiesburg. The class, “A Simple Start to Managing Your Business Finance,” will be presented by Carla Bracey, owner of Bracey Accounting Services. Bracey is a certified QuickBooks Pro® advisor with 20 years of accounting experience. The class will cover five main topics ranging from a financial management introduction to a tutorial of tips and resources.Bracey said QuickBooks® is accounting software very fitting for small business owners. It has been credited with simplifying bookkeeping for users with no formal accounting training.“However,” Bracey said, “no accounting package can be operated properly without sufficient understanding of its features and functionality. Individuals who take classes or seek one-on-one training to learn and understand their software are more likely to succeed.” Thomas Barker, director of the Southern Miss BAC, said he is glad to be able to offer the QuickBooks® seminar series to the small business owners in the area. “One crucial factor in business failure or success is how well businesses manage their books. This workshop has the potential to steer businesses toward better financial management,” said Barker.Space for this seminar series is limited, and pre-registration is required. To register or to request more information, contact the Southern Miss BAC at 601.544.5682, or by e-mail at southernmissbac@bellsouth.net (mailto:southernmissbac@bellsouth.net).
