That is weird - the WDAM website is still advertising two hours of L&O. Of course, I'm not in the area right now to check it out.

I'm not watching it, but here's the website:
http://www.coralridge.org/darwin/
and it makes me laugh, a bit...
“To put it simply, no Darwin, no Hitler,” said Dr. Kennedy, the host of Darwin’s Deadly Legacy. “Hitler tried to speed up evolution, to help it along, and millions suffered and died in unspeakable ways because of it.”
But the social fallout from evolution has not been limited to Hitler. Eugenics, the idea that social engineers should monitor and manage choices to marry and have children, is the intellectual offspring of evolution. Darwin’s own cousin, Francis Galton, coined the term and campaigned for using human genetics as a means to breed a superior breed of humanity.
Eugenics took root in America in the early twentieth century—some 33 states adopted forced sterilization programs to prevent the “feeble-minded” and other “defectives” from reproducing. Planned Parenthood is a direct result of the eugenics movement in America. Its founder, Margaret Sanger, believed in removing what she called “the dead weight of human waste.” “Eugenics is applied Darwinism,” said Coulter. “And it sticks out like a sore thumb that all of these German eugenicists preceding the Nazi regime were enthusiastic Darwinists.”
Evolution is taught in every public school in America, and not without consequences, as Darwin’s Deadly Legacy documents. Columbine killers Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 people and themselves in the worst school shooting in U.S. history. Their goal was to bring death to more than 500. Harris wrote on his website, “YOU KNOW WHAT I LOVE??? Natural SELECTION! It’s the best thing that ever happened to the Earth. Getting rid of all the stupid and weak organisms.”
so, Darwin was responsible for Hitler... I guess they never heard of Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche (http://www.pitt.edu/~wbcurry/nietzsche.html). Wasn't it a Austrian Monk named Mendel who fostered genetics research with pea pods, showing that changes could be made and, in a way, helping to pave the way to prove some of Darwin's theories?
Even in America, we are talking of political Darwinism, in that Republicans are breeders, where Democrats are not, so it stands that in the future, there will be more Republicans than Democrats.

I'm betting some church paid for it... That's just a wild-assed guess, though.

Because they're being paid top dollar for it.
Every now and then, some group will shell out serious cash for airtime. This is nothing more than paid programming, only they're not selling dehydrators.

I would be curious to find out who paid for it, if that is the deal.
Guess I'm too used to the bigger stations where this kind of stuff wouldn't have a shot at prime-time.

I'm a believing Christian, and like my mentor C.S. Lewis also believe in physical evolution and natural selection. Lewis felt we should be more afraid of the doctrine of moral evolution, that Gene Roddenberry-esque idea that mankind is getting "better" through its own efforts. That idea is far more anti-biblical and dangerous than the belief in physical evolution, which merely describes a natural process. We must also not confuse the words "evolve" and "improve" -- they are not the same.

Sorry, I wasn't commenting on the show time. I was just meditating or something (probably "or something") Can you get your program online later? I watch Lost that way sometimes.
I imagine you're not the only annoyed viewer. Those folks are preaching to the choir anyway. People who don't already agree with them aren't going to watch.

The REAL question is why does WDAM do any of the stupid stuff they do? I suppose they think they have a captive audience! NOT! Or not as long as we have cable and satelites! :)

The show was very good.
Schools teach evolution as if it were a fact, but it has not be proven. They brought many good points out. I really wish that lots of people watch it to make them think. One of the best statements in the show was, "if you don't believe in evolution, you must be retarded." Everyone knows that we came from monkees. - These are all lies.
Very good show.

That was a Richard Dawkins quote. Whatever happened with the intelligent design controversy that came up a while back? Can you teach that in schools or not?

It kinda faded into nothing. I believe the consensus is that because it is not a scientific theory, it cannot be taught in science classes alongside evolution.

Basically. It implies that we were made by a more intelligent being than ourselves. It garners more support from the scientific community if you don't mention God.

I get really frustrated with people who can't grasp that evolution is only a tool in God's kit. It's a process. We don't really understand how it works, and our present understanding is deeply flawed and incomplete. There have clearly been human and human-related species on the earth for a long, long, long time. We don't even know exactly when Cro-Magnon (us) appeared, or where they came from, but at some time they/us became self-aware and aware of the presence of God.
None of this makes Genesis untrue. For starters, the Days occurred before there were the sun and the moon, so a Genesis "Day" is not a 24-hour Earth day. Genesis is a story about Creation couched in poetic, sweeping terms. It's a little like the way we teach young children about reproduction. We might say "the mommy and the daddy love each other very much and give each other a special hug, and then later a baby grows." That would be completely true, without going into all the biological processes involved. The Bible does not attempt to be a scientific textbook.
