Groups are smaller communities here at My Hattiesburg that allow people to take their conversations to a semi-private area of the forum.

How do I get in a group?
--------------------------
To apply to get in a public or private group. Just click the link below, it takes you to the Group Memberships section of the User Control Panel. If the group is public, you will automatically be let in. If the group is private, the group leader will approve or disapprove your application. You must have at least 20 posts before you can join a group.

Here's a link to the Group Membership section (use to apply for groups)

How do I start a group?
--------------------------
The requirements are that the requesting member is a resident in good standing. The request would come sponsored by two other residents. You can only lead one active group or co-lead of two. You can be a sponsor of two. All current groups do not need to get sponsors, they will be grandfathered in, but leadership of a current group does count. All group requests that meet the above requirements are also subject to majority approval by the advisory board.

When requesting a group, you need a name, a description, leaders (if applicable) and the type available. Here are the types:

1. Groups that have private discussion and accepts all applications (no leader)

2. Groups that have private discussion and moderates applications to discuss

A group of type 1 will have more chance of getting approved than a group of type 2 since I would like to keep most discussion as public as possible so every member can be involved. You can PM me to get this process started.
