I have this urge to make homemade french onion soup...complete with the Gruyere cheese broiled on top. Yum.
And I think I could probably go for a hot buttered rum, too.
You?

The French onion soup sounded wonderful. My favorite is my mom's homemade vegetable beef soup, with cornbread. Right now though, a cup of hot cocoa is calling my name! If it were earlier in the day, a cup of Earl Grey would hit the spot.

I like ice cream more in the cold than in the heat... I think it's because it makes me thirsty, and there's nothing worse than being hot and thirsty.
I like hot drinks in the winter, too... coffee (black and blacker), hot chocolate, etc...

Pork sausage or pork chops with biscuits & white pork gravy.
I've noticed an irony about this kind of weather.
It's cool enough you don't have to keep you beer in a cooler, but its too cold to enjoy a nice cold beer.
I switch to rum in the winter time.
Warm a cup of rum & apple juice, melt a tsp & a half of butter on top & instead of drinking it, soak it up with biscuits.

Oooh, that sounds good.
After ending up with a bottle of vanilla rum that's too strong to use in most mixed drinks, I finally found a good use - spike hot chocolate with it.

Chicken/andouille gumbo from Roger's cookbook? YUMMO! I make a serious chili but I want nothing to do with white beans. Kidney beans only. I love anything with rice. As for drinks? Give me Egg Nog at Christmas and Hot Apple Cider with a cinnamon stick, or coffee all year.

Absolutely. Baked in a black iron skillet, though we have quit using bacon fat, most of the time. My other favorite cornbread thing -- make the chili in the big black iron skillet, then pour the cornbread batter over the top and bake till the cornbread's done. Course I can only make fried corncakes these days, oven control got fried when they turned my power back on last fall, not ready to spring for a new one.

That all sounds wonderful. I wish I could say I had the patience to wash greens, but I don't.
Actually had the butterbeans, greens and corn muffin plus some other stuff at Movie Star in Purvis on Wednesday.
