michelle was on her way to the mall, turning in and a woman driving a chrysler concorde hit her on the drivers side.....
michelle follows her but she doesn't even stop, so i tell her to stop and call the police......
so here comes the office, asks if we have even met the deductible of our insurance, which i was like "no" and then proceeds to ask if we wanted a report made out.....didn't matter to him he said.....
so we give him the license place number, description of damages to the car, etc etc etc then hands me a piece of paper with the case number, takes 7-10 business days for the report to be completed, call our insurance, and give them that info so they can get in touch with the idiots that hit her.....
so i ask what about the other driver who just ran off, and he said there was nothing he could do......then i told him i hope his lawsuit goes well.......
point is,
1) how are you going to ask me if i wanted a police report? i left work and sat outside for 45 mins for you to get there in the cold, for you to ask me if i wanted a police report?
2) why didn't they try to go after her or put a bulletin out for them to try to pull her over or something later?
frustrates the hell out of me.......didn't know that i could hit someone and just drive off.........
That is ridiculus. Leaving the scene of a accident is a violation of state law. I would raise hell at Wynn. And it takes about 10 minutes to do a accident report and then about 5 minutes or less for a supervisor to approve it. Did he, at least, give you the registration information from the tag number or did it come back no record?

no, he called in the tag, wrote down the name and addy of the other car, but didn't give it to me......
i was just surprised that he was asking me if i had met the deductible of my insurance.......i didn't think it mattered that much.......
for about $100 i can fix the scratches and the little dent in the door, but after everything that we just went though with it i am planning on just laying hell about it.....
Ok. I may see why he was asking those questions. By law, if damages are less than $250.00 dollars, a report does not have to be filed. It can be filed locally, but it does not have to be sent to the state. He should have still pursued finding the other driver in order to get driver and insurance information. I bet he would have if had been his wifes car.

well, the $100 is only because i work at a dealership.......
it would cost someone more to have the vehicle buffed, dents pulled, check for internal damage, etc

Leaving the Scene always pushed my buttons - it shows a complete lack of respect for the other person as well as a penchant to avoid responsibility for one's own actions.
Despicable.
And for a police officer to do nothing to help is a shame. I can only hope it was because the officer was very busy. I fear laziness or inadequate supervision may have been the cause but sincerely hope not. I have heard too many stories of horrible customer service to be confident that it was simply a matter of having too many higher priority calls to get to.

carsales, I would get a lawyer, other wise you gonna get screwed! Even if you don't want to sue the lady, to get your money you need help!
I have worked at 2 police depts. and if a report is filed, it is automatically sent to the state...regardless of the amount of damage..they only have a couple of days to send it in...unless something has changed within the last year or so.
You could also sign a personal affidavit against the owner of the car, the person the tag comes back to, and hope the judge will impose damages.
MD, with the new computer generated wreck reports, all reports go to the state, but the law states that if a wreck has damages over $100.00, you must notify the police and if the damages are estimated over $250.00, the police MUST report it to the state even though not all departments did.

Then again, do yu really want your insurance company knowing about it? If a report is filed, yo insurance co will have it in their data base soon.
Might have to bite the bullet on this one and not cut your nose off? Just depends! Usually, the people who hit and run don't have insurance...dat's why dey no stop.
I agree. Might get in touch with the party and give her the options of handling it. You'll get three estimates, etc and her insurance can pay it, in which case her insurance will go up, or she can give you the cash to have your shop fix it at your discounted rate. I'll bet she chooses door number 2. You get your car fixed and your insurance co isn't alerted. Be sure to get a release form from an attorney. But I can see how it would chap my cheeks for someone to be so callous.

This is why Michelle should keep a gun in her car to shoot the tires out on the other driver's vehicle.:smt070

This happened to my friend a year or two ago. It happened in Lamar Co. and she went and signed an affidavit against the driver. She was fortunate enough to get the tag and description of the driver. Her car was totaled, so her damages were more. Just an option if you want to really pursue the matter. I can see where you are really mad. I would be too.

well i just drove it to the company christmas party and the darn thing is so out of alignment it is scary.......
i have someone who is going to get me their info for me, then i will try to call them and ask them what they want to do. i'm also going to mail them a certified letter.....
if neither of those work, then small claims court......
and if that doesn't work, maybe i'll get the rocket scientist SoMissTV to build a nice little explosive bomb? haha
i could understand if the lady just didn't realize that she hit her, but what really urks me is that she saw michelle following her flashing her lights at her and she just would not stop......

It must be an epidemic out there.....I witnessed a hit and run between the mall and lowe's on Thursday afternoon. Some idiot in the right hand lane was trying to get out of the bumper to bumper and lost control. Went across middle and right lane into grassy area then made it back onto the road just in time to slam into the side of a small suv that was in the middle lane. The suv slowed and made his way to shoulder on the right side at which time the car then sped away. The guy in the suv couldn't get back on the road b/c of traffic.

The woman's information should be listed on the accident report. Do you still have information you gave to the officer? If it isn't listed on the PR I would have it amended to add. If you need a plaintiff attorney - PM me. Her insurance should pay for your damages - not yours. If she left the scene because she didn't have insurance, then she should have been cited. MS requires insurance now and people should pay the penalty for not having it.

We need more road blocks that check for insured drivers. They need to start ACTIVELY enforcing this law. Too many dummies without insurance.
Is The Woman Listed In The Crime Report Her? Maybe Wynn's People Are Reading Here And Know You Were Going To Raise H. About It.

This would kind of piss me off...
A few months ago, my wife tapped some girl who'd just gotten her 1995 Honda Accord. There was a small scratch on the other girl's car. My wife called the police, LCSO responded, and they decided to not file a report because there really wasn't any damage beyond our deductible, and the girl didn't have insurance and would have to be cited if a report was filed (as per LCSO information). When we get home, we have a phone message from the girl waiting. She'd taken the car to a shop and the shop said it would be $2000 to repair. We were very angry, called LCSO, told the deputy we wanted a report and go ahead and ticket the girl, because she was wanting $2000 for the repair. The deputy thought it was ridiculous, as he'd been there and thought it was damage that could have been there before the accident, due to the age of the vehicles involved. We called out insurance (Progressive), the insurance agent got involved and in the end, we didn't pay anything. Our insurance didn't go up, either.
In all, I think we've probably gotten more out of Progressive than we've put in in premiums. I don't know if it's because I'm listed first and my wife second and my wife's had the majority of accidents or what. All I know is I've had excellent experiences with Progressive and thier adjusters are fair and protect their insuree's interests.
Once, when my wife's car was broken into, they kept us up to date on the trial and sentencing of the guys involved, and we recieved payments from the guys for our deductible costs... I'm sure Progressive recieved payment for their claim they paid out.
Maybe your insurance company could go after them... Don't be nice and friendly with the people. There's no way they didn't know they hit someone. Even a tap is well felt in today's cars. Since they left the scene, don't give them the 'dealership' special on repairs. hell, blending the paint from a scratch would cost us average joe's $300.
