Okay this is a true story:

Every year for the past two years we have had a real christmas tree. Well this year I picked out a 5 foot charlie brown tree, same as every year. We got it home and put it in the stand, then my mother went to cook some supper. Well i put the tree up and decorated it, but the stupid tree was leaning and i couldnt fix it. I went into the kitchen and started diging through the drawers, my mother asked what i was doing, i said looking for twine, she said we didnt have any so i went out to the barn to get some hay string. I came back in and asked where the ducktape was, my mother replied "in the drawer under the dogfood where it always is"... she sounded frustrated, and was burning the burgers. I went into the living room and looked at the tree, tied the hay string around the top, pulled it to the wall until it was straight, and taped the string, about that time my mother came in and saw it... She laughed for about an hour, then told me i should send a picture of it to jeff foxworthy... We are truly rednecks... lol... I just felt like sharing that...

HW, our first Christmas after being married our tree was so crooked we had to put a screw in the wall and wire the tree to it. Looked terrible but did the trick.

Yes HW, post a picture! I really got a laugh out of that...that is almost as bad as me stapling up wallpaper I couldn't get to stick a few years ago! My hubby still laughs as me about that! One thing though, the paper had been stapled a long time before he noticed the staples....I TRIED to hide them and staple in the design so they wouldn't be so noticable! :)

Hermione, thanks for the rep. I tell ya, I had gotten so outdone with that damn paper...First off, it was expensive. 2nd...I had gotten the best wall paper man in town to hang it..

He hung the paper, it stayed up about three months then it started coming aloose at the seams. I got seam sealer and redid the seams..a month or so went by and a whole corner of the paper flopped down from the ceiling. I got wallpaper paste and glued I stuck it back up...after another few weeks it feel again. BY this time I was in a rage to say the least. I called the w.p. man back and he came back, stripped all the paper down, sanded the walls, using all kinds of sizing etc. and restuck it up...after a couple of months it did the same thing again. This continued on for nearly two years.

I finally went back to the interior decor store where I got the paper and she called the w.p. manufacture company and explained what went on...they said it was apparently some kind of defect (no sh** sherlock) and paid refunded my money on the paper and the p. hanger. I reallly liked the paper and did not want to strip it all down so I decided to staple it up. It really wasn't noticable unless you inspected it really well. When we sold the house to move to the Burg, the people buying the house never noticed the staples!

That's a great story! Couple of months ago I decided to take down the very dated wp in a bathroom. Ooops, the paper was applied to the drywall without priming. After weeks of picking little tiny pieces, I called Garbees and Ken sanded it all, refloated and did a texture coat. Looks good. Was not cheap, but at some point sanity and life are more important!
