hi everyone how is it going? i forget now how i came across this site but i was glad to find it and read some posts.
you can read my profile if you want but ill briefly tell you a little about myself.
i am a single, 30 year old living in Hattiesburg and a graduated from USM in 2003 with a degree in Computer Science w/ a math minor. ive been living in hattiesburg since 1997 or so if i remember right. i also attend a local church here as well.
i am a 3-D graphics engineer and write 3-D interactive software applications including custom 3-D GUI's(graphics user interfaces) all from scratch. think google earth as an example of the type of stuff i write.
i also love video gaming..anything from the Xbox all the way down to the original Nintendo NES and my beloved Atari 2600. I am actually working on writing my own video game in C++ and OpenGL as well. Incidentally i also collect vintage NES Games and other various 80's stuff. :)
I also have slowly started back on fixing peoples computers on the side which includes deleting computer viruses, malware, spyware etc, installing/re-installing operating systems such as Windows XP, reformatting hard drives, setting up wireless networks and printers etc etc. So if you or you know someone that needs my services please let me know. I am cheap compared to what you get at Best Buy or Circuit City and better service, IMO.
anyway so that is me at the surface...i hope to hear from some people! :smt006

While I didn't understand half that stuff you said in your post, it's good to have you here. I represent part of the "Ol' Fart" contingent here. Plus, my bride and I mess up a computer about every month or so, so we'll likely be calling on you.
Welcome!

what does exactly "Ol' Fart" mean? what i mean is what do you have to do in here to be considered that. :-D
i tried to put in a few links to describe openGL and all that but it said i couldnt add URL's until i make 15 posts or something..
anyway you can just go to google and type in opengl or anything you didnt understand if you are really that curious haha.
if you ever need my services you can always PM me and let me know. i did it while in school and sorta lost interest and was doing other things so ive done it all before.
one thing i forgot to mention is that i love Southern Miss and cant wait to for us to (hopefully make a game of it) play Memphis on saturday night. hope some of you will be there!

That's what I was thinking.
But you are a good technology troubleshooter, too. You saved the day for me.
I don't think we can have too many troubleshooters in the Technology forum.

thanks aaron! so what happened?
It started to really get farther and farther into trig/physics which I hadn't taken any classes on. So I moved on to something else. I think that's about the time I picked up a Java book and started trying that. I've got at least one book on everything.
Welcome, opengl! At 30, you're not an old fart yet. When you are, you'll know it! :) Look forward to seeing you around. Gotta run now but I'll google you when I get back.

Yep. I started in 2003. Took most of the lower-level classes, but realized I wasn't really interested in software development. Nagurney, El-Sawi, and whatshisface that teaches Data Structures are the three I can remember off the top of my head.

Hi Everyone,
I don't live in Hattiesburg yet but my job will be moving my family and I there in June or July.
I was just hoping to find some information about the best schools and neighborhoods to live in.

I worked on the X server and OGL Library teams for Hewlett-Packard from 1993 until 2000. Now I work on remote graphics software (HP RGS). Good to see other techies on here :D

sorry Op, no offense was meant by my previous posts. and Yes, i do google -- and i google often. as a matter of fact, i may need to join "Googlers Anonymous". do they have one of those? (just a minute, let me google that and see!):smt040
i just meant that even after googling "opengl", i STILL didn't understand what it is talking about. but that's okay. i have accepted the fact that i'm a member of the OFC (Ole' Farts Club), and i'm grateful we have people here like u who can help us OFs out when needed!
