Dude. I seriously think you have some issues that need to be looked at. I can refer you to a doctor if you'd like. His name is Dr. McDreamy...

CAN'T DECIDE IF I WANT TO SMACK THAT :an1:
OR SHOOT THAT... :shoot:
I had intentions of going but a last minute unscheduled obligation prevented me from attending. I would be interested on points of view if this meeting was more civil than the last one. I was surprised at the range of moods of some the audience last time.

Of the Town Hall meetings we've held, this was by far the best to date. Bill Hickman who stepped in as moderator at the last minute deserves much credit for the success of the event and it should be noted that he donated his professional services.
The citizens who attended on a cold rainy night and asked questions for the purpose of gaining understanding, offered comments to impart understanding, offered praise where praise was earned, and pointed out some problems that need addressing are to be commended.
Dissent is an important ingredient of democracy but it doesn't always have to be bitter. Last night was an example of democracy as democracy should be.
It was a good event. James Moore

i was planning on going, but i ended up w/my granddaughter staying with me for a few hours... oh well, we had fun any way!
was there any discussion about the status of any progress made on getting the bridge repaired on E. 5th Avenue? my mother is really curious about that since she lives on james st. she says that it's really inconvenient for her to have to go all the way around any time she wants to go somewhere. she's really been on her good behavior about it so far, though! :) but i don't know how long it will last! she has been known to burn some ears at city hall when she feels something's not being done like she think it should. :smt080 (i've done that myself a time or two!) :smt045

It was mentioned at the meeting that Chili's was in the planning stages of opening out by Wal-Mart in Petal. :smt038

The first bids came in way above reasonable so we considered an alternate repair method and have accepted a bid for the repair. Work should begin soon. James Moore

James, i am really curious as to the current status of the work that needs to be done in order to fix the bridge and open the road back up. my mom says that she thought she heard work being done for a while here several, several weeks ago, and she was getting excited thinking it was going to get fixed and open back up, but she says that she has heard NOTHING in the past several weeks, and that the SAME dirt piles that were there when they first closed the bridge are STILL THERE!
thanks for any updates and hopefully GOOD news.... as this may very well keep my mother and several other residents who live close by there, along with myself, from having to confront the mayor and the alderman at one of the city meetings! and believe me, i don't think it will be a GOOD THING! :smt118

The mayor informs me that a $100 per day penalty begins April 25th if the bridge is not complete. The contractor assures him that the job will be complete.

thanks, jimmy! i'll pass that on to my mother and we'll see. she will be so happy when it DOES open back up -- the cops might end up having to take her car keys from her for a while for just driving back and forth on the street and over the bridge!!

i just want to say "Thank U", James, from myself, my mom and her neighbors!!!! she called me yesterday (or Monday??) and told me her neighbor called her and said the bridge was open!
please pass along our thanks to the mayor and all others who helped make this happen!
also, thank u, for cutting out all the extra "bs" of having to go through all the different channels, and just finding out what is asked and letting us know. thanks a bunch!
