OK, I agree that Coach was a big part. But, a good running back will make everybody better. The run threat keeps the corners up, opening up the passing game. Keying on a high-profile guy like bush means less attention is paid to the Deuce. Having an honest air and ground game is vital.
There just aren't that many explosive running backs out there, and the teams that have one usually do well. Of course, the passing game and the defense have to be good, as well. One-dimensional still won't succeed.

I think that it is everything that just finally fell into place.
First of all - we get an amazing coach - Sean Payton who then brings Drew Brees, Reggie Bush, and Marques Colston to the team. IN turn Deuce McCalister stepped it up since Bush came into the picture...it has helped him tremendously...Colston is this amazing 7th round pic that everyone overlooked but Payton must have seen something in him. THe FANS played a BIG part in the Saints success this year as well - although everyone jumped on the bandwagon bc they finally had something to cheer about - thats ok....the Fans created a surge of energy that the SAints have NEVER experienced!!! So i think that is so many things that you can't lay a finger on just one.
Also, they worked as a TEAM this year...something they haven't done before in a while...that is a MAJOR factor as well.

How about a $500K side bet? Might as well give it me as let let vBookie have it. :smt102
Hey Doc,
I think this is a great idea. I'll volunteer to hold the money and pay it all to the winner. :)

how about a 50% bet from you as well?
How stupid do you think I am?
Wait a minute! I retract the question.

If you simply gave away 45% of your riches, you'd still be the richest member here (well, if you gave to someone "poor")Yeah, I thought that was Zorro's forte, giving to the poor. :smt102

I think it starts with the hiring of Peyton and the revamping of the players on the team. The lineup of starters is completely different this year. They work together as a team. A team that does not put all of its eggs in one basket. They are solid. Hopefully there wont be a lot of trades and contract changes next year.

All of the above. I think the direction of the coach Peyton has been very insturmental as to where this team has come in one year. It gives me tremendous hope for next year and I'll continue to cheer them on. Saints for Superbowl LXII!!!
