Front page of the HA showed a woman named Bliss that "ran a Louisiana style restaurant in Petal". For the life of me I can't think where that would be. Can anyone tell me where this is?

That is "Ophelia's" on South Main in the little shopping center beside Carl's Carpet outlet. My husband went there to eat for lunch one day and said it was ok. He found it odd that being a New Orleans style restaurant she didn't serve gumbo. :smt102

If no gumbo on the menu then what did they have? I think it is great that more folks are testing the market in Petal. I hear that we will have a few more dining choices in the near future.

I know they have sandwiches, poboys, and excellent cheesecake because that's what my hubby and his co-workers had when they went. I'll have to ask him what else they have.

Yes,that's exactly what my father-in-law said.
He stopped in to eat thinking there would be good gumbo there and he was disappointed.Petal would be a good place for an authentic Cajun style resteraunt.It's gonna be hard to beat the Mexican resteraunt though.
Lots of good New Orleans restaurants don't serve gumbo (or red beans and rice). :)
