I just pictured Mayor Dupree and the city council talking and also a talk with one of his concerned supporters or his pr man on all that has gone on.
Mayor Dupree talking with his concerned supporter or spin man after the recent Hattiesburg American editorial.
PR man to Dupree> "What are we going to do Boss? That Hattiesburg American raked you over the coals for Wynn, the direction of the city-they say we are going the wrong way. They even are trying to figure out how many police we have.?"
Dupree to worried PR man> "Calm down, young fella. I have nothing to worry about. Remember the pressure they were putting on Wynn? He told "em help is on the way- new academy and all. They believed him. And that was one article on one Sunday NFC and AFC Sunday --they'll forget it. Oh, and that info giving out at city hall or HPD make sure the same orders are in place about logjamming it. If someone calls in, put them on hold and drop them or send 'em to so and so who is out and don't return their calls or fire them. Do the media the same way and give them the wrong figures if you can. Or better yet make them do those written requests things."
Worried Pr man to Dupree> "well, Boss Dupree, remember that shooting? Some of them got mighty testy and upset on that!!"
Dupree to supporter >>> " You mean that shooting where no one was hurt? That was a family squabble--a domestic dispute." That's blown over." Remember that city hall break-in? Well, they forgot about that. I tell you don't worry. My 51% of voters will put me back in tomorrow and that's all I need to worry about. Well, just to be safe and show my concern--find me some opportunities to show I care and am a man of the people--remember that A CLEAN CITY PREVENTS CRIME, I did have to work on a Saturday but it made me look good. Also that Irene Chapel thing showed I was responsive to the citizens and their needs. Get me some more of those things--photo ops and how can someone criticize me then?"
Supporter to Dupree>>>"Well. there a few people that show up at city hall and voice concerns about losing the officers and Wynn. They've got that new Dave Ware guy and some people on that web site talk about doing some stuff."
Dupree to Supporter.>>>>" Those people didn't vote me in and only a few show up. They don't know how to organize like those people upset about The Dixie Youth League and the tenant's and landlord thing. Those people had to be moved into another room. But, those homeowners were concerned @ their property value and quality of life. And the Dixie Youth League were concerned @their children's safety." " I'll just remind the citizens we are a growing city with growing problems and Katrina blew a lot in. Dupree seeing supporter is still concerned, takes compassion and says "you know, you need a break. You need some Rest and Relaxation. I need you to come with me to a convention out in Lake Tahoe. This will take your mind off all this. Just make sure they watch out for my mother. Increase the patrols over there and my area also. Go pack your bags."
Oh, and that web-site thing My Hattiesburg-- Well, they like to vent and they are not too upset or they'd be here. I think they just like to get points and not many of them vote for me and I think they just won't give me a chance because I am black. Most of them live out of the voting area so? Don't let all this worry you. It's just talk and they just talk,talk,talk, even blew out that poor man's website who buys that bandwidth. They shut it down one morning. I tell you --that website concerned me at first-an excellent place for people with same concerns to organize but they stopped there and stayed there on those computers. Best thing that happened to me, it keeps them contained and they think they are changing things by typing and typing. It keeps them feeling like they're doing something. I tell you if they were my people-my constituents, then we ought to worry. My people know how to organize and get up and out where I see them and know they're not happy. Don't you worry at all!!!"

Mayor to Council--"Oh, you mean the 2 men and one lady that showed up. Well, there's always someone that doesn't like me 'cause I am a black mayor. 3 people are not happy about something. Oh ,well Wynn is getting a new class coming out soon. The rest of the city must be happy. I don't see them here."
