IRVING, Texas (AP) -- Bill Parcells retired from coaching Monday, leaving the Dallas Cowboys after four seasons and ending a stellar career that featured three Super Bowl appearances and two championships.
Wow - never thought he'd actually leave. Wonder if TO was the straw that broke the ol' camel's back?
Somehow I can't see him happy not coaching. Of course, I never saw him happy coaching, either, so I guess it's six of one, half a dozen of the other.

I hope Jerry Jones won't try to lure former Dallas assistant Sean Payton away from the Saints.
God's Team needs Sean Payton more than America's Team. :)

I don't think Payton wants any part of that circus.
You know, I can remember when Tom Landry was "the only coach Dallas ever had," and now it seems the Cowboys organization is just a revolving door of coaches and players (not to mention "distracting" players like T.O.).

Well, I wish Parcells well.:smt006 I heard when he came there he told the owner he was the coach or he wasn't taking it and I think that situation stood.

I almost quit being a Cowboys fan when Jerry Jones came in and fired Tom Landry. I thought Jones was an even bigger idiot when he ran off Jimmy Johnson. For the past ten years, the Cowboys and have nothing but bad to mediocre. It is truly too bad we can't fire the owner!

I remember when Robert Kraft hired Parcells to head the Patriots. He was a breath of fresh air - got rid of the slackers and those who could not cut it. They drafted Drew Bledsoe and began to win.
When Parcells left (felt he was not given veto power over the draft selections) they went with a kinder, gentler Pete Carroll. Pete was too easy and they began to slack off again, going from winning records to losing records again. Pete went to USC, where his approach is obviously more suited to college kids than multi-millionaires.
Bill Belichek replaced Pete Carroll and moved back towards the Parcells (who he coached under) style.
Bottom line is Bill Parcells is a winning football coach. Too bad to see him go.

I vote for a combination of T.O. and Jerry Jones. Too much to deal with.

Jerry Jones is living proof they shouldn't let anybody with money own pro teams.

Oh and if you all didn't know... unfortunately all of the assistant coaches seem to be heading out as well. There are only 2 left that haven't taken positions elsewhere and those two are not under contract for 2007 so who knows what will happen next.
Mike Zimmer - Def. coordinator - went to Atlanta
David Lee - Quarterbacks - went to Arkansas
Bruce DeHaven - Special teams - went to Seattle
Mike MacIntyre - Safeties - hasn't left yet
Anthony Lynn - Running backs - also hasn't left YET
