That's actually not that much ammo. It says that he had 6 guns. Now, a decent journalist should have mentioned the type of each gun and the type of ammo found. If one of the guns fired .22LR ammo, then 500 rounds could be one box of ammo that cost around $10. Heck, at Walmart you can get 100 rounds of 9mm ammo for $10-$12. You can buy cheap good ammo online as well.
