How much for a Colt 45?

OK, b/f had a Colt 45 pistol in Navy he liked and is wondering how much they run and are gun shows higher than other places? And what are other places?

Found one on a website for $1000. Pricey to me. But, I am not familiar with all that.

It depends on the model. Colt makes several different 45's, but if you're looking at a new one, $800 and above. You could check the pawn shop's, but you probably wont be able to find a colt. Pawn Shop Plus will order you one and give you the best deal in retail.

It's a semi-automatic with 12 rounds to a clip and he will try to find in his old bootcamp book. Why are they so high and is that why I hear of people having Ruger 45s?

If I were going to buy a 45 and were looking for a 1911 style, I'd buy a Kimber. Keep in mind though, these are high end 45's and with guns, you get what you pay for.

Israel Arms International, makes a very good 1911 clone the M5000.
I got one for a between $200 & $250 & I've been very satisfied with it.
